Lye/Limonene/Benzoic acid

Swim washed his 3 liters of limonene with 7-10 grams of washing soda and 600ml water, then used sep funnel to discard water. (Another great idea from Mr. Loveall's Ceilo tek)

Swim got two more extractions with his old sun worn limonene. Swim also tried to add a strong chacruna stew in place of the water. It worked, but he realized later he should have added more lime or maybe basified the water because it must have been acidic after reducing all night. Lessons learned. (three extractions makes the limonene price not so bad at 75 bucks a gallon)

Swim used only chacruna leaves that had fallen during the winter. He got half the yeild with those as apposed to fresh picked summertime leaf.

Swim hopes his notes help someone. Swim is NOT a chemist. Just a happy person.

SWIM has used Mr. Loveall's drytek method with his Chacruna Nexus leaf and got near 1% using food safe stuff.

No need to swim here, the water is barely ankle-deep.

This tek is very interesting. As others, I'm also mostly interested in DMT for pharmahuasca, and so it being a salt is a feature. I really like HIELO, but the uncertainty about the strength of the final product makes it problematic to use for pharma.

As DMT benzoate precipitates as crystals from limonene, could one expect the same when precipitating from ethyl acetate? Is there some reason why one could expect it to be different in ethyl acetate? Or some problem when using benzoic acid with EA?

About availability of benzoic acid in Europe, it seems to be easier to find if one adds its E number to the search, E-210.

That mentions limonene and toluene, but not ethyl acetate. So not exactly like HIELO with benzoic acid instead of citric.
I imagine there is no reason that it wouldn't work with ethyl acetate and no danger, but my knowledge of chemistry is limited. I plan to try it in a few weeks unless someone more knowledgeable points out it's a bad idea for some reason.

Might have been the wrong link I pulled it from the lazing salting thread. Loveall has listed it as confirmed. But the link might be wrong. There was a lot of experimenting at the time with different combos and I think it was tested by a few of us nexians iirc.

Want to summarize the Crystals In Solvent Lazily OTC (CISLO) systems that are showing promise. These are less general than liquid - liquid A/B extractions with a lot fewer working combinations, but the specialization makes the process shorter/simpler when it does work.

The general method is:
- Make a paste with dry plant material, water, and base
- Pull with solvent
- Reccomended: Purify solvent with rest to settle particles and/or a drying agent to remove water/micro emulsions (drying agent is not needed in all cases). Decant or filter. With experience and an ideal system, this step can...

Thanks to transform for liking an old post and reminding me. Looks like I tried the EA combo blig-blug but was unsuccessful. Hopefully there's another thread or post somewhere with lovealls results. Never hurts to redo an experiment.

Reading these old post makes me want to look back into harmala and dmt lactate.

As well as fine tuning the EA harmala tek. Even though it yields less and requires multiple re-runs with the same material I still prefer it for the lack of painstaking filtering and quick turn around time.
