I heard one of the most effective methods is smoking Spice is in the machine. So I thought I would start a thread where I can post on (as I am a new member).

I just made my machine and thought maybe people could have some input or even show pictures of their tool/ticket to paradise!

I am making my smoking devices while waiting for my mhrb to arrive. The machine can come in many shapes and sizes and I think I have come up with an effective way of making them. I got a bottle and drilled a hole in it with a GLASS drill. I think this is better than just "punching" a hole in it with a nail. Less likely to crack and you can make pretty much any bottle in to a machine safely without breakage and without having to hunt for the hayns (spelling) bottle. There are many bottles available, I am trying a Lee & Parrons bottle and another one in the making is a (cleaned with a acetone) nail polish bottle (might be small but will try because of the lady theme).

That looks mighty similiar to the machine I made recently. I had trouble using it.


I initially blamed the large overall size. I couldn't really watch the flame and keep a good distance whilst also maintaining a good angle....also trying to get such a large chanber full of smoke/vapour and get a lung full--idk, just seemed tricky. So yeah, either my machine was foolishly too big, or my technique is just no good.



Noone should ever use a nail to puch a hole in to glass. But why does everyone keep mentioning such a thing as a "glass drill"? I purchased a set of glass dril BITS for four dollars at ace hardware. One of the bits even drilled the perfect sized hole to push a bic pen shaft into it and be just snug enough to be airtight, no tape or anything. I put the bit into a regular drill and just like that, I'm drilling into glass.

People keep mentioning a "glass drill" rather than just a "bit" and I wonder--are you crazy kids actually using some speciality tool, or, wishing you could afford some speciality tool but instead resorting to actually driving nails into bottles like madmen?

My favorite type of drill for any job requiring little power. An electric drill will also work, but don't forget about the hand brace! Afordable, durable, highly portable, made with natural materials and runs on calories.

He was probably just referring to the glass drill bit itself and not referring to the actual device used to spin the bit. I myself am a Cnc machinist so I use drill (bits) all day in my machines, but I simply refer to the bit itself as the "drill"

Errrrr ummm how silly of me! I meant glass drill bit... I used it on the electric drill.

Bedazzle: so you think its too big? OK, maybe I will have to hunt for a smaller size. all the booze bottles that small are plastic where I live. There is one kind of rum from Jamaica that comes with a 2oz glass bottle "freebee". I will maybe get that some time. Oh yeah, I have the manual hand powered drill. Gosh that would take like 1 hour or 2 to get the job done. But maybe good karma in it

The ORIGINAL machine used a minature Henessey whiskey bottle for a very good reason as well as stealth. the base was very easy to punch a neat hole in using a nail or pointed screwdriver. No Drillbit required!

I think maybe it's too big. Don't listen to me. I just found the machine way too easy to make and for some reason my large machine was rather difficult for me to use.

I confess my own ignorance on this matter.


The matter of hole drilling however, is one that I feel confident about. The nail method is great (I guess) in a pinch. But now--why the pinch? Again I reiterate:


A glass drill bit, rather a set of them, costs less than 5 dollars.


How much did your MHRB cost, you lab equipment, solvents, everything, all told? Cheapness still has you hammmering at a bottle? I believe that we should respect the spice and also respect our own bodies. There are acceptable risks and there are foolish risks. Define them for yourself.


I'm just looking out.

Making a machine aint rocket science, and neeeds no drillbit if you stick to the "original recipe" of minature henessy bottle, use other bottles at your own risk. Use tape to cover cracks and it'll be fine. SIMPLE common sense folks.

Bedazzle: I think you are right about the size thing. It might seem close when making it, but once the spice vape starts flowing, it might seem a mile away.... plus clearing the chamber might be hard, unless a hole is drilled on the side for a chamber clear.

I do agree there is a risk in popping a hole in just any bottle. But as Christian is saying the "original recipe" is the one that works by popping out the bottom with a nail or screwdriver, due to the thin bottom in the center.

Amazing stuff... trying to find the right tool to launch is hard to find.. plus the technique of melting and lighting..

You buy, extract, build launch device, ignite and liftoff. if you are lucky you see some colourful visuals.. if you do it right with the right dose and method you could visit weird worlds with strange beings.

This is off topic. but can someone tell me the levels you go at? level 1 colorful patterns. Level 2 a wormhole hyperspace to another place. Level 3 meet entities. Level 4 ego death / birth? some have death in small breakthroughs?

Sorry for the offtopic, but I felt I needed to say this: there is no such thing when dealing with psychedelics. I don't even know where this kind of "theory" came from, because I stumbled upon it before trying any psychedelics, and I find it so very confusing and untrue, now that I have done this stuff. You get what you need, there's no pattern; no "level". There just is, the actual experience. Speaking from my own [admittedly limited] experience.

Yeah I'm going to say the large size of the bottle is hindering the smoking method. I use small liquir bottles, Southern Comfort being my favourite one, the Hennesey one is ok, but I think it's too "stubby"

Grab some small glass liqour bottles and give it a try. Mine all work like a charm.

I made a new machine spice launcher! I think is this is one of the BEST machines there is!!! Wholy crap!
It is a vinegar bottle which I drilled a hole in the bottom. You load the spice an the mesh and put the lid back on, then get a torch lighter and have the heat go down the hole.
I loaded up just a speck in there to see if it works and got smoke. So I loaded up what must have at least 20mg or more. Man! The smoke just poors out and fills the chamber.

About the pipe again (sorry!) with the little hole at the top, I think it is imposible to burn the spice because no flame touches it. Giving rich hits of spicey goodness.

Your wool gets me worried, it's seemingly VERY shiny and that usually means that the coating is left on, which is toxic, although this largely depends on what kind of wool it is

I burn mine thoroughly and then remove the soot with acetone.

As somebody mentioned size I might aswell add that size doesn't really matter, as long as it's not a 2L bottle. I use a regular white wine vinegar bottle, smashed the base, rinsed glass left overs and taped it, voila.

Nice looking machine! (That bottle type looks to be able to turn into a alcohol lamp too with that metal cap. Drill the center to fill with a cotton yarn as a wick and then pierce a little air hole with largeish sewing needle to the side of the cap to let air pass through as the wick is burning to not make pressure go all wacky inside lamp)

Does the metal heat much? Does it have the inside lined with some kind of plastic material or just bare metal? What kind of metal? When heating unknown metals to high temperatures you might want to be sure to know what type of metal you are actually heating to not create possibly bad fumes.


If people use bottles with stickers and try to peel off; soak first with little dish soap in hot tap water and it will in most cases get the sticker off of the bottle if no harsh glue was used.

Glass emergency breaking tools with this sharp pointy end that will break and with less force make dents into glass. I made a hole into a sodalime glass bottle, about 30mins in I had made a nice little hole in the glass. If you go with this and have tools then remember this creates glass dust so wear protective gear(use the same breathing mask and goggles you have in your lab).

With the bottom broken with something like nail is going to make the glass very brittle and might break very easily so I would avoid against that method. Also very sharp edges. Definitely not a joy to carry. No need to be in hurry with this kind of stuff, with little patience added to the creation process you will have a nicer piece to enjoy with your journeys

If you use torch and screw driver method of trying to make a hole then you might want to buy little bit of borosilicate glass tube and make a whole new device Just 10cm of pipe and you smooth the ends of the cut pipe with your torch and put the wool/screens in the end to make a nice flute The torch and screwdriver do not work well with small bottle but the torch will smooth the ends of a fresh boro tube

@ flouro - the glass is a solid glass. Not to sure what the metal is. Tin? No plastic inside lid. When you torch the metal, it might get hot if you want that method. But the heating method I used and it's what would be recommended is to let the flame heat pass through just the small hole at the top, this is instant and smoke starts to pour out. When you stop, the smoke does not come out of the hole because it is so small. Best vape for for the price!
Oh and it might make a good lamp too!

Spice is very strange stuff!!! We all need an effective method of smoking it. I just can't get over seeing my pipe go into about 10 - 20 pipes in my han as I tried to light the second toke and couldn't deal with trying to line thing up!! Hehe

This pipe has worked every time so far!!
You will notice the bottom is cracked. Yes it is cracked... I have to get another one now and re-drill it. I have a tough time drilling all the way through, alway get cracks on the last bit before it pops through. So I will drill until I see a hole all the way through almost done, then stop before the bit pops through. See if that works better. Because it seems solid right now and works, but I am sure a bunch of people will warn me of the dangers of inhaling glass and that is true.

Thanks! You should give it a try! I got it superstore (grocery store) in Canada. The spice is so smooth in this I cannot even taste it or feel any burning. But it instantly fills up with thick white smoke swirling around.
