The more pulls my friend does, the more clear it gets. Does this mean he's done?

Not necessarily.
You'll know when its done when the last pull you did yields no/very little product/xtals.
If all you are scraping up is a pitiful amount..call it a day.
My pulls tend to get more yellow (probably because I leave them longer towards the 5th and 6th) I give up after 6 pulls.
