Muscle contraction while drinking Yage

Hi everyone, I'm still quite new here, but I've been reading along for quite a while. Now I have my first own question. About half a year ago, I started experiencing strong muscle contractions when I consume psychedelic substances. Most of the time, I squint my eyes, and my ears start to ring, kind of like when I yawn. Often, my eyes water during these episodes. Sometimes, I also move my body, tensing all my muscles suddenly and then relaxing them again. I could mostly suppress it, but since I feel like it's not a bad thing, I let it happen.

When I recently drank Yage for two weeks, it intensified even more. At times, I gave in to these cramps for hours. Sometimes, the urge occurs even when I haven't consumed anything. However, it gets extremely amplified by mushrooms, DMT, and Ayahuasca. Has anyone else had experiences with this? I'm wondering if I should be worried and if I should see a doctor.

Kind regards, and a big thank you for this great forum.

That does sound concerning. Do you have any other regular physical training practices, for strength, endurance and/or flexibility?

Many people report positive results in treating muscle cramps with a good magnesium supplement. How is your diet? Have there been any phases of your life that may have led to some kind of nutrient deficiency? And have you used any other medications in the past?

I have seen it noted (anecdotally here) that harmala alkaloids may deplete magnesium in certain individuals.

Another thing that springs to mind is potassium. If you can, go and get some general blood tests done.
