Music with Dmt or silence , what's your preference ?

Mine also - but add acid techno (cluster, SUF, smitten), hard house, a few breaks and… just about anything from jazz to pop to funk and disco to the mix… the joy of really rocking a party is delightful. One time it was even necessary to call a structural engineer afterwards
Yeah a good tune is a good tune , acid techno , jungle d&b , but tunes like ayla ayla and E-razor mantra
Lift my spirit and sends my vibrations to bliss . even 30 years later . That and DMT , what a gift ,!!!!

Music always.

Sound is important to navigate the space as well as be protected in the space, imo. In this instance I’m probly like some kind of traditionalist. Icaros are a main part of curranderismo and I think I like that paradigm more for myself vs one of silent meditation etc. Thats just not my thing.

Even with recorded icaros ime there is a special kind of magic that is captured, and it is penetrating in the space. If you want to learn to navigate with the sacred plants and molecules listening to icaros is a good place to start.

While tripping on DMT, I tend to prefer music that is not too overwhelming whom I can choose to focus on or not. Sometimes I choose to not have background music to let the inner music grow. I also noticed that DMT makes me much more finicky on music choice, because bad choice can feel irritating, while when on other psychs like shrooms or LSD, any music will sound fantastic.

I like music on for sure, but for some reason I don't like the thought of using music with lyrics. Something about words being included in the dmt space just feels wrong to me but I couldn't say why. It's not genre specific either, I've tried instrumental metal, very chill acoustic guitar, spacey ambient synthy stuff, Joe Satriani, pleasant sounding and unpleasant. Nothing has ever influenced a trip in a bad way for me even when I've got more aggressive stuff playing, tbh after a certain point I don't even notice the music at all really, I can still hear it but it doesn't register while I'm so distracted by the visions and I don't hear it until coming back down.

Same, I can't stand music with lyrics on DMT, because my brain will try to understand/translate what he hears. My general feeling is that DMT is not very appropriate for talking or listening to someone talking, it takes me a lot of energy and disturbs me from the trip to focus on the language function. Maybe on the lyrics music topic I'm a little biased though, as I mostly listen to instrumental/no lyrics music.

I agree, I think it's just too powerful for our attention to be focused anywhere but on the experience itself, unless maybe you were doing a very small dose. I don't think human language is a compatible form of communication in the dmt space, perhaps redundant. Could be why it fails when we're trying to describe our most profound trips.

I've thought about this very question a lot.

I'm also into psytrance and other subgenres from the psy spectrum, and have a huge collection curated over the years.

But I agree with other posters: Psytrance is not really the best music for this experience. It's usually very intense, and DMT is as well. It seems to favor other kinds of music that are focused on atmosphere and relaxation rather than intensity. This is not to say that it's never appropriate: I've had amazing trips while listening to forest psytrance and atmospheric darkpsy/psycore, but that depends on my own mood.

When I try to find music for a session, I gravitate towards stuff that's:
- Focus on atmosphere rather than leads.
- Has subtle percussion, or no percussion at all.
- Absolutely no lyrics or spoken words.

For this, lately I've been enjoying some albums by Ultimae Records, in the psybient/psychill spectrum. Shpongle, while amazing on its own, I don't really like the "world carnival party" vibes for DMT. I do enjoy smoking changa to their first album because it's more relaxed than the later ones.

Sadly, can’t properly operate devices when flying, so can start but not easily stop. I’ve only flown solo for the last 15 years, not sure how well I would deal with an accidentally-built sonic torture chamber.
Yes I get that I'm a solo flyer , although I had a extraordinary experience with music playing once I also had that sonic torture chamber before with the wrong music , like I said all I could do was beat it untill it stopped playing , I still think Silence Is best for me , the sounds on DMT are quite remarkable
