My general questions.

Migrated topic.
SWIM is an absurd device people insist upon using to throw the law or prosecution off their tail. It stands for Someone Who Isn't Me. It makes things very confusing, and you have to mentally insert a pronoun of some sort whenever they use it. Sometimes they begin a report using SWIM, and forget halfway through. It's funny when that happens. Monkey see monkey do.

I'd like to know who started Nexus too.

I don't think DMT has a limit.

I'd love to hear about some of your experiences Jrgskitarghee. I think new users can make reports in the Experiences section.

You know, SWIM is not a very good acronym for those disassociating themselves from their chemistry work and experience reports. I'm sure a legal person might be able to argue that SWIM actually stands for Someone Who IS Me.

So just to be crystal clear, the acronym should be SWINM.

I would advise for less caustic, devoid of any personal comments when giving definitions of "SWIM" and how or why it is used. There have been debates over this issue and I wouldn't like to see any hotted discussions about that.

The definition given in the dmt-wiki page is excellent for its neutrality and sufficiency.

But I was intentionally trying to be caustic...

Fair enough. I cannot say whether you have been intentionally or unintentionally "caustic". I just want to ask you to exercise more caution in the future.

The point is that your post feels diminishing toward users that use the term. You referred to "SWIM" as "absurd device people insist upon using to throw the law or prosecution off their tail". You then "wrote monkey see monkey do". This is some unnecessary criticism thrown here and not in the most polite way.

In practise, if someone wants to use the term, let them be. If they do not want to use the term again let them be. As simple as that. I can think of much more serious issues in this world that deserve criticism. Arguing whether "SWIM" is good or bad or whatever is like arguing about people's avatar.

I hope this ends the issue now.

Yea, being intentionally caustic isn't really a good way to play it.

I'd say it'd be the equivalent of saying something really offensive and then explaining that it's alright because "you were intentionally being a douchebag"

On this forum especially, it was a little startling to see such a post, and I would like to inform you that i did not look upon it kindly and feel that there is no need for such attitude in what should be one of the most open-minded havens on the web. Like it or not we live in troubling times where fear and paranoia reign supreme (take a look at global politics and there should be no question as to why). As a result of this, certain individuals like to try and put some distance between themselves and the machine that feeds the prison-industrial complex. In the future I would ask that you not try to stir up unnecessary drama through "intentionally caustic" posts, there's just no need for that.

Peace

I've been here nearly a year quietly tolerating what I feel is the very annoying use of SWIM. I do feel better expressing my irritation - it is like a boil has been lanced - especially since some people have taken it to their heart.

Woah man, I'm feeling the peace vibes. Not.

never take unnecessary risks... you know drug enforcement people tend to be a little over-zealous... I remember a friend who did laughing gas in the middle of a club, I said why take an unnecessary risk, do it out of sight at least, he was like "it's legal, it's legal, what are they gonna do?", but that didn't stop the bouncers from cracking his skull open for it.

Hahaha, man I can accept that! I sure agree that opening the steam valve and releasing some of the pressure is good. I know that some people find the use of "SWIM" irritating.

Now back to the real topic of this thread. If anyone else discusses whether the term "SWIM" is good or bad here, he will be given a 2-days ban.
