My Introduction

Hello all,

This is my introduction message as I just joined today. First off Im a Biology/chemistry student living in the land down under with a particular interest in fungi (Im a regular over on the Shroomery.org) with a focus on there uses in bio remediation and what not. I spend a lot of my time gardening and mending to plants that I like to grow (how I came across the nexus) and do have an interest in enthobotany due to its novelty in the scientific world. Im an upcoming scientist with a major in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. My main interest in joining the nexus was to develop some more knowledge around various Australian Acacia particularly A. acuminata, dissona and various other more 'remote' species found inland. I can also offer some advice in mushroom related fields.

I respect plants and the environment greatly and consider them as important if not more so than you and I, however my spiritual perspective towards them and particularly DMT is not as extreme as some but is rather centered around curiosity and a thirst for knowledge rather than some quest for enlightenment. Science and knowledge is my way of sating that magical inner void of the unknown that we all wish to understand. Everyone's trying to reach a destination or some kind of an enlightenment in their life however I do not want to waste my time talking about spiritually drunk hippie talk that gets no where - I am here for practical reasons and that alone, my form of 'enlightenment' is realizing my potential and forever seeking understanding in things around me.

Well you came to the right place and im sure you will enjoy the insitefull information from allot of the intelligent people we have here at the nexus. I also came here in search for more information on plants and found out theres even moar good stuf to take advantage of and help create.

Hello and welcome to the Nexus! You are definitely in the right place. We need as many scientists/botanists/people interested in plants as we can get. They all help contribute the the growing mass of knowledge and research here.

I was on the Shroomery for a short time, but it was definitely not for me. The Attitude on the Nexus (found at the Attitude tab right in the navigation bar) is wonderful. It suits my personality and writing style, and it creates a wonderful atmosphere on the forum as well.

Also it may be good to give some of the "spiritually drunk hippie talk" a read just to see what it's all about.

Again welcome and thank you for offering to add to the Nexus in your pursuit of knowledge!

Thanks for the replies! Yes i've started adding some information on a few Acacias that have been unexplored that im hopefully going to test out in the near future! ill keep the nexus updated on my progress

Regardless the motivation behind your endeavors, it is fantastic to see a thoughtful and respectful attitude to your approach. I stress this point in relation to recent activities pertaining to the sustainable harvesting of certain Acacia spp. in your country (see Nen's article on the Nexian news site). I'm sure when you get around to testing some of the Acacia spp. you'll do so in sustainable manner. The results would more than likely be appreciated by many here so keep us updated.

There are a wide and diverse range of opinions here regarding particular topics, some of which might oppose those you mentioned in the OP. Personally, I tend to find that disagreement can have the potential to be a good opportunity for learning, when approached in the right manner.

Thanks for that colour. Yes it is unfourtante that people kill of many Acacias in the pursuit for DMT however I deem it quite unnecessary. They have generally short life spans in the wild so its usually not to hard to find a dead specimen in the area, even then so phylloyd extractions are a great way to sustainably analyze species as well. Yes I am aware others would disagree but each to his own I respect others opinions but that doesn't mean im not up for a critical debate on a topic ahah
