I was going through old post and saw a a discusion on using HDPE plastic turkey basters for pulling naptha and it said that was fine what I was wondering is if 5 gallon buckets were HDPE and if so is it possible to use those instead of gallon glass jars SWIM is trying to turn alot more than a gallon at a time if 5 gallon buckets wont work does anybody have any other methods for processing large amounts of bark at one time

If your buckets are HDPE, they'd probably say so on there somewhere (probably on the bottom).
A bucket sounds kind of sloppy for processing a large amount, though. I'd recommend an HDPE carboy

the carboy looks even slopier to me swim is using a straight lye and naptha extraction the solvent seems like i would be easier to pull the top layer off because of the lid being so much bigger but the buckets are deffinetly HDPE so that means they will work right

swim used a 5 gallon bucket to do an extract and had no problems so far. swim is still on their first batch in the bucket though. The first pull created a bunch of pressure causing the bucket to squeeze inward, but returned to normal shape after the first pull. so far so good.

i have seen swim slosh the contents around lightly then into a circular motion to attempt to create some whirl-pool like current.

i have seen the magnetic stirring devices from science class. WHere you you go about getting one of those and, does lye or naptha react to the metal of the magnet?
