Anyway, today is Saturday. It's been a week since * last consumed nicotine (~ 5mg, transdermally); last Saturday * took several cactus preparations instead. * did not miss nicotine at all that Saturday :)

*'ve had a pretty rough week since due to the withdrawals: depressed mood; tiredness; poor concentration. *'ve been smoking a lot of dope (without tobacco, of course) and tried some OTC anticholinergics after reading about the scopolamine therapy on Erowid ... both improved *'s mood, but not productivity.

Wondering if any of you can share any advice on improving mood, alertness and concentration over the next week or two while *'s brain chemistry gradually returns to normal.

Try coffee.

I am an ex smoker. What helped me quit more than anything was learning to despise the substance I was quitting. I think simply looking at images of lungs that have been exposed to heavy smoking should be enough to induce such passionate emotions? It worked for me, at least.

Without (good, strong, freshly ground espresso) coffee, there can be no day :)

Sadly, no stimulant I tried had much positive effect this past week.

I've little problem with commitment to quitting at the moment - I've simply endured too much to throw it away. Thanks (and sincere congratulations on your success).

If feel ya been 3 weeks n a few days since I quit smoking the bacco. Quit weed and drinking along with it.

Every time before this caffeine has been my go to replacement, it just doesn't mix in the evenings as well because your body metabolizes it a lot more efficiently when your not smoking, and when I'm jonesin it's hard enough to fall asleep.

Honestly I don't have too many tricks up my sleeve though just bit the bullet, and for me the roughest withdrawals always the easiest part, cuz down the road I'll forget how much I hate being hooked and pick it up again.

Good luck though! Wish you the best. :d

(well I suppose meditation, and headstands, oddly enough the stands do wonders for mood/lifting depression, have been my aids, but both of those aren't methods that one can always pick up easily, especially when your fiendin)

I have found that a good cup of damiana tea really helps me the times I have tried quitting cigarettes. However I still smoke, but not that much, maybe one or two at work and when I get home I rarely smoke cigarettes if it's not to mix with hashish.

add harmaline freebase to your dope joints , it will help

also if you're smoking mj then , how is it so difficult to quit tobacco , and why do you want to quit tobacco , dont smoke cigarettes but using a little tobacco with mj while smoking is ok ,

i smoke atleat 10 mj joints everyday that is 1/4 tobacco and 3/4 mj , this way i don't consume more than maybe 3 cigarettes all in total throughout the day , neither i have any craving as such and everything is cool also using little tobacco will not harm you and neither cause you cravings , which is the case when one quits smoking tobacco

Jin: you are correct in saying that consuming nicotine will alleviate the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal ;o Not exactly what I'm shooting for though. I'm done being addicted to nicotine, at all, in any form. I don't want to ingest it ever again.

Harmaline freebase would no doubt help. Don't know how to go about rustling some up though, especially in the next few days where it'd really help.

Having a tough time with my moods - possibly should consider antidepressants, or some kind of alternative.

Guess I should kill two birds with one stone, go for a bike ride and get some excercise and see if i can spot any datura growing around town ...

:d wow brother , you hate nicotine as much as to go around replacing it with datura , three cheers for you brother !!!! ( heavy sarcassam)

brother i would advice you to buy a ton of tobacco and smoke it before touching datura , cmmon dont joke , i can promise you smoking a little tobacco is not harmful atall infact its only that tobacco is addictive and gets us smoking more , there lies the danger , smoke less and with MJ and you will live a long happy prosperous life free or cough and other throat problems ,

while if you smoke datura , you could wake up in a strange enchanted village not knowing your name , or why there are no clothes on your body or even why you are hanging upside down in such a condition while a strange looking creature is playing paino with your body parts

its all upto you ,

i say forget about trying to quit , start with controling if you can control then you'll be the master of nicotine rather than other way around , smoking a little tobbacco with mj is perfectly resonable way to smoke tobbacco as you'll be smoking very less and no cravings either ,

also please remember addiction is ok , many are addicted to breathing -but no-one is quitting , infact try controling , many breathe haphazardly but some breathe with control , many are addicted to eating - but no-one is quitting , some eat like crazy while others eat with control ,

control my friend that is what is required , if you quit then you really can't control
some will say i am the tobacco devil preaching you this shit , but believe me control is the best as then you are free to do what you like , let me elaborate

in control - you smoke when you like , if not then its your decison , if the desire arises after some time then you do it but its your wish not the nicotines or anything

out of control - you quit as there is no other option left

what about life , if life goes out of control ....... will you quit ?????

Wasn't going to take an hallucinogenic dose of datura - I'm done with deliriants. Just a few seeds for a threshold dose would probably take the edge off though - scopalomine stops nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

I can't be an occasional smoker. I've tried, many times - it always leads me back to full-blown addiction. So does smoking weed w/ spin, smoking a pipe / cigars instead of cigarettes, etc. Thanks for the ideas / opinions though.
