Migrated topic.

Man, I used to HATE hippies. Now I'm blasting some shpongle while I finish up my final exams, this music is amazing!

My question to you is: What is your favorite group within the psychedelic music scene?

Shpongle
Bill Laswell
Bluetech
Phutureprimitive
Entheogenic
STS9
Easily Embarrassed

I'm hooked on this stuff now, after years of Dead, Phish, and Reggae.
It just reminds of "that place" so much, its hard to stop.

I normally put last.fm on and select shpongle radio, or psychill tag or something similar, and all sorts of great music for tripping comes on. I've learnt a lot about a genre of music I rarely listened to this way as well!

You don't have to be a hippy to like this kind of music, but it probably helps though 😉

Tripping to a music genre you like really heightens your appreciation for it, that's for sure. I've asked myself the question "How long is this guitar solo again?" a few times.

Oh god, Pendulum's old music is astounding!

Pendulum - Hold Your Colour

1200 Mics is also really good!

Not very hippie-like, but still very good!

I am not experienced psychedelic wise but I have fallen in love with music because I took one too many heroic bong rips, put on my surround sound system to max and tuned out.

I like hippies.

I wish it was still cool to be peaceful and nice to your fellow man... but those days are long past, now it's cool to have money, get bitches and drive fancy cars.

Well, I know it's different kind of music, but I am on love with Tool! The are really psychedelic in my opinion, but in a completely different way.. The do DMT too though :p

Was never much of a tool fan but I've been expanding my horizons when it comes to music lately so I might as give them a shot. Can you give me a starting point?

Hold your Colour is pretty awesome.

I'm personally into more electro house and psytrance, but I like almost all music. What I dont like is a much more narrow category (country, hip hop and metal mostly)

Not very hippie-like but I cant help myself, I need to share. 😉

Super 8 and Tab- Delusion
Spencer and Hill- Young Love
Dave Darrel- Children
Super 8 and Tab- Electra

Sure..
I will tell you my fave songs : Schism, The Pot, Ænema, Eulogy, Vicarius, The Third Eye, Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann) -followed by- Rosetta Stoned.. Some of their more "experimental" tracks that I like are : Die Eier von Satan, (-)Ions, L.A. Municipal Court, Lipan Conjuring.
It's important to pay attention to the lyrics as in my opinion are some of the finest lyrics ever..
Peace

There are some country songs that are really nice :) And that goes for "metal" too because by "metal" you include a LOT of categories..

Yea I actually used to really like metal, far too angry for me theese days though.

The first metal concert I ever went too I was completely blitzed. As I was standing there having my ears assaulted by chaotic music that made no sense it finally struck me. Metal is about just how chaotic life REALLY is on a smaller scale. What happens to atoms when we heat them up? They bounce around and off each other. What happens in a mosh pit? We bounce around and off each other.

There really was beauty in the disorder.

I used to hate hippies too, now I am one; but a hippie with an "im not a hippie" complex atleast.

Skizm: welcome to the nexus.
also, get some deep forest down you :) (good for when you've rinsed posford to death)

Its good to see psychedelics are working there magic on your brain! They have disolved your hate of hippies and converted it to empathy.
Now all you need to do is stop putting things in to stereotypical categories and you will have gleamed one of the most important lessons that psychedelics have to offer.

It looks like your on your way! congrats on that one! :)

Here is some southern US Hippie Music bet you never heard this one.
"I can see the concrete slowly creeping, so lord take me and mine before it comes"

Curtis Loew
"people said he was useless those people all were fools
Because Curtis Lowe was the finest picker to ever play the blues"

Lyrics:

Well, I used to wake the mornin'
Before the rooster crowed
Searchin' for soda bottles
To get myself some dough
Brought 'em down to the corner
Down to the country store
Cash 'em in, and give my money
To a man named Curtis Loew
Old Curt was a black man
With white curly hair
When he had a fifth of wine
He did not have a care
He used to own an old Dobro
Used to play it 'cross his knee
I'd give old Curt my money
He'd play all day for me
chorus:
Play me a song
Curtis Loew, Curtis Loew
Well, I got your drinkin' money
Tune up your Dobro
People said he was useless
Them people all were fools
'Cause Curtis Loew was
the finest picker
To ever play the blues
He looked to be sixty
And maybe I was ten
Mama used to whoop me
But I'd go see him again
I'd clap my hands, stomp my feet
Try to stay in time
He'd play me a song or two
Then take another drink of wine
chorus
Yes, sir
On the day old Curtis died
Nobody came to pray
Ol' preacher said some words
And they chunked him in the clay
Well, he lived a lifetime
Playin' the black man's blues
And on the day he lost his life
That's all he had to lose
Play me a song
Curtis Loew, hey Curtis Loew
I wish that you was here so
Everyone would know
People said he was useless
Them people all were fools
'Cause Curtis you're
the finest picker
To ever play the blues

Peace

I used to love music during journeys...

(Mr. Oizo and some mushrooms on the winter solstice changed my life)

Until, anyway, I discovered DMT. Now, the "inner music" is much more profound--discovering the musical tones and harmonic resonances within the body... very cool.

But, when I journey with other teachers for some pleasure and not all learning... anything without too much vocal presence is great. I am a fan of NIN "Ghosts," nicknamed a "soundtrack for daydreams."

I like shpongle, but I think of them as more electronic/world fusion than psychedelic... all though they obviously are.

I also like Ozric Tentacles and...

Early Porcupine tree :)

Stevie Ray Vaughn.. His music is designed for psychedelics. Ooft!

Some of Frank Zappas stuff is also amazing for trippin.

Jethro Tull / cats squirell.. That took me over the presipis that one :)

Finaly the man that needs no introduction, positively the greates gutarist who ever lived. You know?

Recently though I've been turning the music off. Makes for a much deeper trip I believe.
