Nooo!! I'm being hippified!!! arghhh

Migrated topic.
I love psychedelic music a lot!
Even classical music can be psychedelic, especially Fantasia Impromptu by Chopin.:p

Spacerock and psychedelic or experimental rock is my thing, check Hidria Spacefolk, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Oresound Space Collective, Abunai, Seven That Spells, Akhmed, Sula Bassana, Rovo, Monkey3, LSD Pond/Bardo Pond, Galactika, Amorphous Androgynous, etc...

Theres one chill out album that guided me very successfully through some of the most blissful journeys i can remember, and that's; Mantaray - The Numinous Island, very colourful landscapes form in my mind when listening to this album, it's completely beatless all the way through, and still so amazing.

Future Sound of London and Dead Can Dance can be amazing too, although, they can get a little dark.

There's tons of good traveling music, but i guess it depends a lot on mood and personal taste.

Hendrix was not "the greatest guitarist". There is no such think as "the greatest guitarist"

I agree for Classical music (it can sometimes be really trippy..)
Have you guys ever heard atonal music (or Atonality)? It's kind of sick. Especially with psycs! Maybe for some it can be really heavy to trip on :) The one I like the most is from Alexander Scriabin and Igor Stravinsky..

Nice to hear what you guys listen to.

Would like to share with you some music I like to listen to when settling down for some mushroomtea : )
Not the real psychedelic stuff, just wavy and sweet actualy, but it gets me into this nice open, ever deepening, innocent, childish kinda state of mind,
which is an excellent platform to fly from.

Both are from sasha.
Who is one of the alltime masters of progressive house if you ask me..

Virola78 you're a swell fellow :)

what do you make of his Involver CD's? The first Involver is defo up there with my all time favourites. Expander too!

Gotta love this one:

:)

Back in the days SWIM was really testing the nerves of his friends when he was playing some Arnold Schoenberg (also atonal) while everyone was tripping.

Shoenberg is pretty sick and boy, that was a harsh prank even for himself...

Thats a matter of opinion though. The fact that you knew who I was talking about when I never mentioned his name does say a lot ;)
For me I can go deep into his music the same way I can go deep into a trip.. Not a lot of guitarists are able to offer subliminal layers the way Hendrix can. In my humble opinion of course.

Guess we visit the same places my friend, you read my mind : )

Bloodlock was one of the other tracks I was considering to put here.
Less accesible for people who are not used to listen to house though, thats why I dindt post it.
But I absolutely love the track. It so... androgynous?

Camakazi, I knew who you where referring too because I've this story a lot of times and in my opinion, when it comes to art, there is no "greatest of all" title.. Hendrix was amazing.. A pure genius.. He is for sure "one of the greatest".. And don't get me wrong.. I mean, I really like that Hendrix can get you in that kind of state :)

Infundibulum, yes!! Schoenberg is also amazing!!!
I am greek too.. I wonder if we've ever tripped together :p

Thats cool man, I guess its a subject that often comes up.. hence the reason why you knew. I cant be the only one that feels this way. It dosn't mean I dont appreciate the other arts, its just that I favour certain artists over others.
You recomend any other guitarists I shoud be listening to thats on par with the likes of Hendrix and Stevie Ray?

Yea, if you like guitar then you'll probably love Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Rai, Joe Satriani, and Jeff Healey (this guy also sings, he was blind), Frank Zappa was great too!

I've always liked Satriani, but I don't care much for Malmstein and Vai... it's like, yeah they're awesome, but BOY do they know it.

Always got a lot of respect for Jeff Beck and infinite respect for this next guy, who is not only one of my favourite guitarists but also up there with my favourite singers:

Yea man, Opeth is great, what i like most about them is that they don't seem to fit in any box, some tracks are ambient, some metal, some progressive, and they sure are pretty damn psychedelic.

I also love their cover art, dark beyond words.:p

Jeff Beck is one of my favorite guitar players too.. Really crazy dude.. Some of Steve Vai's songs are really trippy.. The same goes for Satriani.. Now, Malmsteen is a real show off.. I don't really like him, although he is an AMAZING guitar player.. Opeth is a great great band!! And it was also strange to me how this guy does so savage brutal and so melodic "clean" singing! If you like this kind of music you might also enjoy Pain Of Salvation! My fav song from them is Rope Ends.
Now, for something new..
I found yesterday some CD's called "Rockabye Baby!". They make instrumental lullaby renditions of songs by popular rock bands from Beatles to Metallica to Tool to Bob marley to Green Day to Rolling Stones to NIN.. I found them really good for psy experiences..
Also, now that I mentioned them, Nine Inch Nails, play some good psychedelic Industrial music!!
Peace :D

Here is some southern US Hippie Music bet you never heard this one.

Never heard?! Are you kidding?! That is some of my favorite music!

The Allman Brothers are GREAT too!

There is something "Tao" about Southern philosophy.

Walk along the river, sweet lullaby, it just keeps on flowing,
It don't worry 'bout where it's going, no, no.
Don't fly, mister blue bird, I'm just walking down the road,
Early morning sunshine tell me all I need to know

Early morning sunshine... tell me all I need to know...

Nature can answer all of your questions :)

All you need to know is sunshine.

I also LOVE Jethro Tull! Amazing band!

Remedy lane is definately up there with my all time favourite albums. :) I've seen these guys live twice and they are freakishly amazing.

Ashes, people passing by, reconciliation... toooo many great tunes :)

Daniel Gildenlow is on another level to these flash guitarists... and he sings songs of a million voices, all so perfectly refined.

wow.

Folk on here don't just have great taste in substances ;)

"I can see the concrete slowly creeping, so lord take me and mine before it comes"

Never heard Lynyrd Skynyrd?:p
They aren't that unknown are they?
Everyone who saw the movie The Devils Rejects will remember the end, right?
I looooved the ending.

I don't want to do the conversation about Hendrix.. To say in arts that someone is the best is, in my opinion, really stupid.. Remember it's different to say "favorite" and different to say "best"! :D
Lynyrd Skynyrd are very famous... I mean, even if you don't know many songs you know "Sweet Home Alabama".. It's one of these songs that everybody knows!
I am in Germany at the moment and I heard a really interesting German band called "Panzerballett"! They play progressive/metal/jazz.. Kind of weird music really!!
Cheers
