Hi all,

I know this is not the nexian approach to substances, but I thought I'd look here for advice. I have a group of friends with whom I like to party a couple of times a month. We used to use MDMA as our main party substance and then drift off into k and nitrous. We had a blast. Since a few months though, some of us have decided to quit MDMA because the serotonin crash is too high a price to pay for one night of "fun". Without the MDMA, the ketamine is not as potent, and the overall trip has lost a lot of its magic. I tried twice replacing the pills with 2 grams of cubensis, but I find them hard to mix with k. They do eventually potentiate it in a similar way as MDMA did, but for most of the cubensis trip, they are like oil and water.

So, I'm looking for alternatives to bring to the group. Any ideas? Ideally the new substance would not be anti-social as a lot of "pure psychedelics" often are, it would still have some psychedelic component as MDMA can, and it would not cause too much of a crash like the amphetamine family does.

You can only "party" on true psychedelics (LSD, DMT, Psilocybin) so many times before they slap you in the face. HARD. And by they i mean them if you've talked to them you know who i mean; if you don't, listen to them when you do, or they'll make you listen !

Cactus or mescaline is great for social occasions. I have used it and went to a club and had a great time, drinking caffeine drinks really kicks it in and its nearly as good as mdma for those occasions. I went to a club one night and I drank a half bottle of buckfast, its a tonic wine with lots of caffeine. I had a capsule of methylone and mephedrone to take, by eleven oclock just before we left there was no way I could take the capsule I was just too high/speedy, the caffeine really kicks in the peruvian torch id ate and it made me feel even better because I knew I wouldnt get the crash the next day, main reason I avoid things like that now.

The plant khat that you chew could also be a good alternative, its really quite similiar to peruvian torch tbh, very sociable talkative etc.

Maybe look for something like MDAI or MDAT? Figure out which ones have less of a crash. You can find these on RC vendors.

When there's a compulsion to use a drug at party's regularly, and the drugs you were using aint suitable for use that 'regular' then maybe the frequency of using substances should come under scrutiny not the substance.

I'm not sure what you mean, xtechre. There are plenty of substances I could take a couple of times a month with little or no negative impact post-consumption, I'm just giving another pass at exploring the possibilities. Are you saying that taking any substance every two weeks is too much, or is it the idea of taking it with friends that you think might be wrong?

camdemonium - Yeah, I've learned that the hard way in my teenage years, and I'm well aware of the untameable, respect-commanding nature of true psychedelics. I'm finding that mushrooms have only a small value as "empathogens", and I'm not about to increase the dosage in this context, for exactly the reasons you mention.

Infinite I - Yeah, I've heard that mentioned before, and I I think I'll look into it. I've never tried cacti or mescaline. One thing that makes me uneasy is the duration of the trip. My psychedelic durations are always on the high side, and I don't know how I'd go about dealing with a 16 hour trip, but it's not unimaginable, and I think I will try it soon, starting with a moderately low dose. I'm trying to find info on it, but reports are always oriented towards solo trips. Any advice concerning cacti and mescaline?

Yeah, just be careful and don't venture into stim territory. My friend had a nasty habit where he was shooting up coke for a while. It's a fucked up path.

For sure. I spent a good part of a year doing a bit too much speed, and I sometimes indulge in a shared baggie of coke, but that's just an occasional guilty (and empty) pleasure - it's not where I'm at.

Mescaline sounds like it might be suitable and enriching. I do want these experiences to be enriching. What would be some of the warnings about mescaline? Is sleep out of the question for the duration of it?

I'm one those people who doesn't get along with cannabis. One toke and I stop talking, two and I think you're talking about me, three and it seems like everything is a big conspiracy against me. I think two grams orally might trigger a psychotic episode that would land me in the hospital, no joke. If only the health system had some kind of shamanic department. That would be something to be proud of.

I'm the exact same way, and so are all my friends. It is probably just a conincedience, but there seems to be an inverse relationship namely if you like dmt you sure as hell don't like cannabis.

Around .05 grams of mid level stuff is enough to make music feel great and the world look brighter. Any more than that and I'm just fucked up and feel like I'm drugged. Beer no joke is easier on my mind.

What!? Are you serious? That sounds like a joke to me, but some might take it seriously. Most people disagree.

I hope one day a little dose of mescaline becomes as normal as a a few glasses of wine at a party. It just makes people happy... but innocently happy, and docile. Not violently and wrecklessly and aggressively and mean spirited happy like alcohol. Alcohol is the very reason I never got in to partying. Alcohol makes people act very bad, mean, and violent, out of control. If people started taking mescaline, there'd be a lot more people getting along better out there. It would be so easy to just talk to anyone and have fun. Anyway, mescaline is a beautiful thing. I have heard that mescaline has a similar effect to mdma, but without the nasty after effects of mdma. The afterglow of mescaline is beautiful.

Some Rivea Corymbosa seeds perhaps? Euphoric, mildly psychedelic, unless you eat a ton of them. They never give me nausea as Morning Glory and HBWR can.

A small dose of acid or the 2c series? I have only tried 2cb/2ce/2ci but I think that all of those aside of 2ce (a bit too overwhelming for many situations for me at least) would be good to party with.

I personally didn't understand how anyone could "party" on psychedelics, that is until I did so on 2C-E. Absolutely amazing substance for this sort of thing, however it really needs to be in the right environment. I think if you just take it with a couple of friends and sit around, you're not going to have much fun. If you all head to a rave or a club playing some great trance music, get a feel for the music and enjoy yourselves - it'll be a truly rewarding experience.. and, before you think "but this is demeaning psychedelics", I don't think it is, I think playing games or watching films can be a waste on psychedelics, but I agree with Terrence McKenna when he says that the rave culture of today is an extension of the shamanic cultures of the past - it goes hand in hand with psychedelics very well.

I thought that too but the weird thing is, it was overwhelming when I was doing large doses at home, but not so when I did an equally large dose amidst thousands of people. The only issue I had with it was I had really really bad vasoconstriction because I'd been taking it every 3-4 days for 2 months + consumed a lot of caffeine and nicotine, so it made dancing quite hard eventually, but other than that, awesome time, very spiritual too.

It does last too long. I was focusing on the good points of that night, the negative was I was up all night to the next day, which can be a pain. Nowadays I usually dose cactus before 1pm, that night id dosed at 4pm so it was at the peak when I was going out to the club but then it lasted too long, I did consume 25g of cactus that night so to be expected. With my one and only mescaline experience I had a powerful expereince but magaed to get a sleep and im one of those people who struggles to sleep with most things and my psychedelic expereinces also last a bit longer than most. I dont like to take valium but have done a few times after cactus. The trip with cactus or mescaline is in my exprience one of the most forgiving and easy to handle, I just cant imagine it being overwhelming but ive heard people like fracatal and others saying different. Id try get some peruvian torch its predominantely mescaline compared to some others which have a few more some sedating alkaloids.

Couldn't agree more. My first time on 2C-E was when my buddy was DJ'ing at a local bar. Took a few bumps to get the night going. Add in some good friends and some good music, and we had just a great time. I only had maybe 3-4mg insufflated, but I was at a +++ for the entire night. I found that small doses synergize with alcohol believe it or not, not a lot of alcohol, but 3-4 beers over the course of the night to lighten things up.
