So California has made naptha illegal:roll: . No one has it, I tried several hardware stores, large and small. A couple f the places I went to handed me Klean-Strip Industrial Maintenance Coating Thinner. They say this is what people are using instead. It is readily available and approx $20 per gal. Does any one know if this will work in place of naptha?:?:

looked up the msds, here are the contents:

Have they banned Ronsonol lighter fluid as well?

Its expensive to buy so many small containers, but if you salted out you could at least use it a few times. I'm sure tons of stores carry it, if it isn't taken off the shelves.

Depending on where you are, Nevada's not too far. I already go there for drugs, ammo, and/or fireworks every few months. Gardnerville and Reno have good hardware stores too. :d

You can buy naptha online too, but the shipping will kill ya. At that point you might as well order some DCM, or have a chemist friend rustle up some ether.

AFAIK you can still find quart and 1/2 gallons of ronsonol. Coleman fuel is still around as well... Of course, I'll have to wait until the stores in this tiny town run out of what's on hand to find out for sure.

I thought Coleman stove naptha was to be avoided. I saw something that was next to the coleman stuff that said "refined" Naptha for a little more money. If memory serves it was about $15-20 per gal. money is an issue with me.

I'm near the coast.

I don't know if you checked an ace hardware store, but I was back in California over the summer and had luck finding pure naptha there. I had checked several other hardware stores and could only find the product you mentioned. Good luck,I hope you find a suitable solvent some where :)

Sorry swiy cant get naptha. vmnp or cop out with ronsol. if one uses warm heptane it will result in a more desirable yield. if one cant get the naptha, one can find the heptane and hexane. Also a thing one should consider is jungle spice. more will be pulled and it can be done with toluene, xylene, or diethyl ether. also a food grade tek q2121s using limonene would suffice.
