Quick question: I have some powdered MHRB, received Dec 2024. It's been stored in the dark, unopened at ~15-22C.

Is it worth extracting at this point? Any safety concerns?

Hey awalmartbag!!

Sure it worth extracting.

I had 6 years old MHRB sitting in the closet, with temps fluctuating from 0 C to 40 C.(Winter Summer) From my experience, when I made an extraction, I didn't observed any yield loss, neither degradation.

Take care and be well🙏🏼

What solvent did you use? Isn't Naptha less effective for DMT oxide?

Hey brokedownpalace10 👋🏼

I'm using some local Naphtha, rich in Hexane.
Not sure about your second question bud, my knowledge is very limited on the matter.
Maybe someone with more experience could give you an answer.

All I can say, with that Naphtha I extracted around 1.2% of DMT from that 6 year old MHRB.

Best regards

"DMT-N-oxide" in this context seems to be a decades-old red herring, if you ask me. There might be a higher chance of oxidative polymerisation, except that DMT salts (the essential form it would be in in the bark) are considerably more resistant to this, and an acid treatment appears effective in breaking up the polymers anyhow.

But oligomeric/polymeric DMT is indeed poorly soluble in most aliphatic naphtha.

Do you think that older bark will yield less smokeable DMT when extracted with Naptha?

broke down ,,,

Treansform basicly said no ,..... it is unlikly there will be oxidated DMT or very little ....................so naptha should be fine .

at least thats how i interpited his last post .

Well, I've seen the same batch of bark yield nearly as much at 17 years old as it did when 'new', so…

It's probably worth including at least an acid soak, just in case.
