Hey guys got a quick question,

am having problems with dark solvent after separating from mix so followed the faq took three 200 ml pulls mixed with 100 ml of water with sodium carbonate, shook and mixed very well, layers separated dark layer on bottom nd solvent came out alot lighter but still weird look, tried to wash it over and over again shaking harder but solvent did not return to normal colour. am wandering what will happen if i freeze this? Also a side note i did another pull 400 ml mixed with same amount of water nd sodium carb and this time solvent came out normal looking afterward.. am wandering if 600 ml of solvent is too much too wash.. if anyone has any insights let me know please! much appreciated.

Sodium carb wash doesn't really remove all the impurities from the naphtha, just some of them. Sometimes I've even lost spice to the wash itself, experiencing a drastic yield loss after the wash. I would try freezing the naphtha to see if anything drops out. If its very dirty I would try to start off the crystallization in the fridge first, if the naphtha is saturated enough.

Sodium carbonate wash is a good way to get rid of lye residue or something that can make the vapor very harsh. My DMT is always super smooth after a SC wash. I don't do it all the time but usually. And I haven't lost much yield. Very little, maybe 5-10% max.

Ehh don't like the sound of yield loss, are there any other methods i can try to clean this dirty nap with? i guess doing a mini a/b? havn't tried that yet. I really dont wanna lose much yield obviously. I stuck my jar in the freezer so i'll see what happens. Really hope i don't lose anything and hard hours of work are wasted. Am really curious to the cause of this, one thing is that i changed barked and now i'm starting to have this problem, on my last batch of bark didn't have it at all.

anyone have anymore insights it be much appreciated!

There should be no yield loss with sodium carbonate wash because dmt freebase will not be soluble in sodium carbonate solution. Loss of yield was likely impurities. Anyways even if, theoretically, some dmt went to the water, you could always recover it (just base it further with lye, and use a solvent to re-extract).

Nothing is loss until you throw it away.

Okay So pulled out the orange coloured nap from the freezer that i set to crystallize nap was returned to normal colour (yellow) and no big dense white crystals formations to be found as i expected but a brown thick layer on the bottom of my jar (like the colour of coffee when it has a good bit of sugar nd cream in it) so what i did was pour of the nap which had returned to normal colour from being a weird orange colour at first threw a coffee filter into a jar. Placed back into the freezer to see what will happen. What i have now is a coffee filter filled with brown gunky crystals it looks like, that dry smells like spice. I am guessing that when it was in the freezer all the crystals along with the weird stuff making the nap the weird orange colour fell to the bottom. This is really frustrating! Guess i will recrystallize the brown stuff and see if i can get all the gunk out. Has anyone expirenced this before? Since for some odd reason all my pulls are coming out dark i guess this is going to happen with all of them, the only thing i can think to do is too build up all my solvent and do a mini a/b to clean it. rahter then doin this sodium carbonate wash.. Also since nap is coming out dark does this mean its less saturated with good stuff? If anyone has any comments or suggestions please feel free to drop them would greatly appreciate it since i am quite new at doing this.

Much love,
