Newbie here. I'm using Zippo lighter fluid for naphtha and 50g MHRB. I'm going for the thick porridge consistency before pulling.

The issue comes when I pull. I'm using the provided ratios, 50mL of naphtha, and just before the pull, my porridge consistency is forming the red top as stated, which makes me believe everything upto that was perfect. Note that to achieve the porridge consistency, I didn't need to add any extra water or lime; the given ratios formed it naturally.

When pulling, I put my soup in a larger beaker filled with hot water, and then put the naphtha, and stir. However, over the next 40 minutes, the naphtha seeps into the soup and completely disappears without a trace. This has happened twice now.

Please help me out. Am I missing something obvious?

Hey, unfortunately that's just a con of the tek. There doesn't seem to be a perfect consistency that completely avoids solvent absorption. I use this tek myself for the ease of being able to pour off the solvent from the bark mash. If you invert your beaker (maybe move it to a jar first) and use the lid to hold back the bark, if you can prop it upside down, it might just take a while for some to separate. Usually after I've poured off everything I can, I check on it again 15 minutes later and there's a new puddle of solvent that has separated itself.

Or just keep adding more fresh naphtha. If all the DMT is in the trapped 50ml, and you add in another 50ml, the DMT will spread itself evenly. So even if you can only get back out 25ml, you've at least gotten 25% of the DMT. Just keep adding more naphtha and pulling as much as you can back out, and you'll get most of the DMT eventually. You might have to concentrate the pulls before freeze precipitating though, since each pull would be more dilute than usual.

I wish there was a better solution though, or at least a clear explanation why that happens.
