psychedelics and eye problems

Hello all those reading i am not to sure where to talk about this at so i am sorry if its in the wrong place. I have been exploring psychedelics for the past couple of years and I was curious if anyone on the nexus has run into the same thing i am almost positive i am going through. I think i have developed something called Palinopsia it is a visual disturbance in your vision causing things that have gone away to hold an after image in your vision. Its like looking at a bright light and you see a negative of it, but for me it doesnt have to be bright at all.:surprised or in dimmer lit areas in my peripherals i see slight tracers from objects moving. at first it was very disturbing seeing it being completely sober but i have just learned to live with it. I should probably go to an eye doctor and get it checked out. aanyways I was just kinda curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar since taking any substance. It's not common, but also not unheard of for people to experience psychedelic-like visuals even after the trip has ended. Palinopsia, tracers, breathing walls, crawling patterns are all things that people have reported.

The prognosis is pretty good -- most cases seem to resolve themselves after a few weeks or months, and those that have the condition permanently adapt and get used to it. It's not a huge deal.

I don't have it, but I know there are some Nexians who can talk about their experiences. It's apparently more common after taking LSD or other ergotamines than after taking tryptamines like DMT or psilocybin.

I actually feel that DMT (in my personal experience) has about the largest affinity for palinopsia than anything else (and thank you whostaht for teaching me a new word). First of all, I would expect the effect independent of DMT to diminish over time with discontinued DMT and psychedelic use, though perhaps not completely. DMT in particular seems to be extremely well attuned to creating and manipulating light afterimages. It is often one of the features that lead people to believe that the experience is internal (though I would disagree and that's for a whole other monster of a thread). It should be considered that in the case of DMT, we know that in rabbits that after consuming DMT, the DMT remains in certain neural vessicles for up to a week, and so if there is something similar to be said about use in humans, then it stands to reason that you would continue to experience the palinopsia for a certain extended duration following use. For this reason (and personal experience) I would expect the effect to diminish over time, but there is another factor that should be taken into account and that is the act of learning. In other words, when DMT or psychedelics make the effect so exaggerated such that it makes you pay extra attention to it, then even when the effects happen independently of psychedelics and even if they happen on a somewhat miniscule level, your attention has now been trained to detect the effects more readily and so certain details that would typically have been filtered out of your conscious mind, now stand out like sore thumbs. It's kinda like learning a new word and then seeing it pop up everywhere. It didn't all of a sudden start to exist!

I have that, but it's not all the time. And when it comes to my constant attention it doesn't bother me. In fact, sometimes it can be entertaining, or sometimes it feels slightly divine. Driving in the dark CAN induce some anxiety, but it's completely and totally manifested by the Self. I've gotten 100% used to it, have no problem instantly sorting real from geometric overlay, or sprites, or whatever I see that day, and usually end up seeing BETTER because of the extra processing (I believe).

I.get the tracers, shadows in my peripheral & drapes, blinds etc. breathing. Geometric patterns in the dark, as well as a kind of "static". I accredit it to a good many rounds with the dxm. It doesnt bother me. It becomes much more pronounced if I go a day or two, or three without sleep as Im a bit of an insomniac and dont often get a beneficial amount of sleep.
