Psychotria viridis ID and false positives

Hello everyone!
I lost my previous login credentials so I'll have to run the questionnaire again :(

I happen to be staying somewhere in the Yucatán peninsula in south east Mexico. I happen to be staying in the south east of Mexico where neither Psychotria nor Banisteriopsis are native.

There's some Psychotria viridis-looking plant around here. Psychotria is supposedly "cultivated all the way up here" according to wikipedia and some random texts online (which might be quoting wikipedia anyway). Now, as opposed
to mushrooms, plant ID is usually not too difficult and these plants look _exactly the same_ as the psychotria pics I've seen online.

Is there any possible "false positive" for Pychotria viridis?

yeah theres a lot of false positives for Psychotria viridis.

There are two good methods of identifying this plant, one is the dolmatia on the baxis of the leaf on the central vein.
The next good indicator is the arrangement of flowers and fruits. These will be sparse and on a long racim.

Thanks a lot! It seems like I stumbled upon an "alba". I'm not sure I might find the right stuff for trying an extraction on them just to check what the referenced post talks about (the need to dispel the doubt on its activity). I'm afraid of just bioessaying it on myself with harmala extract. Not sure if there could be any dangerous compound that could be harmful under MAO inhibition.

Well I'm not sure on an ID for that, not entirely sure its an alba. It looks more like the Psychotria native to my area (nervosa) but Psychotria is one of the largest generas with over 1500 species. Its pretty difficult to pinpoint them without exact location, habitat, elevation, and whether or not its native or exotic too makes it even more difficult.
 
Wow! So much to learn! Thanks a lot for your replies really.I'm passing through the jungle near Cancún. Elevation is about 300 MASL. Indeed, from its description, could well fit nervosa, seems to grow all over Central America and Mexico.
