Can one use pure acetone for a FASA tek to make DMT fumerate like this one?

The method says to use anhydrous acetone which I have no idea where to get it. One is just trying to convert DMT freebase to DMT fumerate. How different are the two? What would happen if one just replaced the tek with equal amounts of acetone instead of anhydrous acetone? Thanks!

Hydrachrolic acid
Could have meant hydracrylic acid as well, but probably not.

Misspelling in chemistry can be fatal! Learning how to spell chemical names correctly is of fundamental importance. Every letter counts.

where dmt freebase is pulled from a nonpolar solvent like naphtha, xylene, limonene or even vegetable oil, using fumaric acid dissolved in acetone.
In these instances you'd need to use fumaric acid in water. Acetone would be miscible with the non-polar solvents mentioned :thumb_up:

It would yield an aqueous solution of dmt fumarate. If backsalting to an aqueous solution is the goal, vinegar would suffice.

But, correct me if I'm wrong, by mixing fumaric acid in anhydrous acetone with dmt freebase in a non polar solvent, crystals of dmt fumarate would precipitate from the non polar solvent/acetone mixture.

Aye, cognitive flatulence in action!

My thought process:

"pulling" = transferring into another liquid phase;

tempered by:

the popular terminology for precipitating solid material seems to be "crashing".

plus: "look into the backsalting techniques"

Hence my superfluous comment.

Of course crashing solid fumarates from xylene with FASA works! Naphtha would be a bit more touchy, though.
