question about acid

Migrated topic.

now i know i could get muriatic but its not swimming season..

so im wondering, i found a few different types of rust remover

one was naval jelly, which is like a pink gel, but says it contains phosphoric acid, and wiki states that naval jelly is another name for phosphoric acid, so i wonder if i dilute it with water if it will be usable in an a/b prepration?
No I wouldn't advise it - you don't know what is in the gel - try 'pH down' for hydroponics
also, is car battery acid (new from a bottle) pure h2so4? thy
thanks
No, I don't know what else it contains but from what I can ascertain is that battery acid (bottle) has a lower density than pure Sulphuric - whether the additive is just water you would need the MSDS to find out.

Why don't you use vinegar or do a STB (no acids required)?

yes you could get muriatic acid (roughly 31% hcl I believe) from the hardware store, also sulfaric (sold as a drain opener), but these 2 acids are the worst 2 to use when working with spice..... either use acetic (viniger), citric, or ascorbic (vitamin c).

I always go with vinegar for an AB. Hcl is always a bit easy to overdo and the lower the pH in the acidic phase the more base you'll have to add later.
