Site Quirks topic

Many of my posts don't have the Edit button visible. A few do, and so do profile posts and conversations. It doesn't seem to be correlated to the post's age. Weird quirk, any ideas?

I'm unable to edit my prior post, so here's another maybe-quirk:

The three dots that are the button to interact with someone's profile post [. . .] require a double click to open the new window. I am not sure if this is an intended design feature, because every other button on the forum is single-click.

Yeah, I think that may be the case. I'm not sure exactly how it works. I feel like soemtimes i still have the ability to edit older posts of mine and it doesnt seem consistent. Perhaps The Traveler knows how it works, yet the details aren't important if it's doing the intended job.

I thought the Edit buttons were on a timed system, for a certain time the button lets you edit before disappearing. Thought it was a feature not a glitch?
Oops, sorry - somehow my quote of @blig-blug's post failed to get included! Apols for confusion. [It was a question about timestamp inconsistencies]

But if you don't see it, it must be my system or browser somehow.
Okay, forget this: I cleared my cache and it stopped happening. Sorry for being dumb and not trying that before.

I can edit threads going back to 2009. Weird that others cannot.
One of the (few!) perks of being a senior, I suspect.

There are editing limits in place to help maintain congruency in threads, as mass deletion of too many users' posts would potentially render important threads incoherent or unreadable.

It seems that PDFs aren't an allowed file type for Resources pages. In cases like this resource, it would be good to be able to host the PDFs directly in the Nexus instead of directing to an external download. One can attach it to a comment and link to it, but if it's an option that's easy to change, I think it would be good to be able to attach it directly to the resource.

Found the method to perform this process:

  • As a moderator reassigned the resource to yourself
    1. Now you can [Change Resource type] to "Uploaded files"

      1775410760662.png
      1. Attach the PDF
      2. Save
    2. Reassign the resource to the original owner

Kind regards,

The Traveler
