Red Spice?

Does this just mean the bark/lye solution got in the DMT? If so whould that mean I whould not want to smoke the red stuff I have then? Thanks!

Oh BTW it's only a little bit thats red. Most of it has been coming out pure white or slightly yellow on later pulls.
 
Thanks for the link Drake but I only used Naphtha. According to the link you must use a different solvent to pull the jungle spice. hmmmmm...
 
I did the lazy mans tek and do have a little bit of red scrapings from the jar- I keep it in a different jar. I was very careful not to mix the base solution and only have naptha. The naptha itself was yellow when separated. Its kinda weird but when I check my freezing jars about 2 hours into the freeze, I could see the red precipt out first.

The main concern with this is that there could be lye in it, if it is part of base solution. I have heard, smoking through a water pipe will filter out any lye but not 100% sure on that.
 
Yeah I know I've smoked at least a bit of the red stuff so far that was mixed in with the rest. I didn't notice any difference with the red stuff but I also have less then 10 trips under my belt so what do I know.

Even if it is red because of the lye/bark solution the lye would evaporate off during normal drying anyways right?
 
My friend had this same problem.

STB only using naphtha. The naphtha came out red colored...it was not bark matter, but something had been pulled that normally wasn't.

He smoked a bit (15mgs) last night and said he had strange effects for about 2 hours...

We are completely baffeled by this. I did an A/B on the exact same batch of mimosa and got beautiful white xtals. Very strange.
 
Someone stuck some reddish brown naphtha in the freezer for a few hours and had all the bad looking brown stuff collect at the bottom. They poured off the top layer and got perfect naphtha that precipitated nicely. The brown goop only settled out in the freezer and still had naphtha in it. Weird stuff.
 
What a mystery!
Try to dissolve it in naphtha again and then do two-three washes with sodium carbonate. If this gets rid of it then I recommend you start doing washes regularly before freezing. I would not advice you to smoke something as unidentifiable as this, it can be anything! If it truly is some base-sludge left, then it should be a goner after the washes. If it's something else and it's not disappearing, then you really should switch to A/B!
 
I have received red crystals from MHRB when using a heavy naphtha and evaporation. Although, after scraping and drying those red crystals they turned into a brown waxy substance.
 
I made a "disappearing dmt" post.

SWIM's naptha is sounding alot like the naptha discussed in this topic.
Some of his pulls have also resulted in a brown waxy like substance that seems to have no smell.
Only thing he did unusual was use 2x the lye he normally does.

I actually performed the cleaning of my friends naphtha. It ain't particles. I also let it sit for over a week to see if anything would fall out, nothing ever did. The red spice does not burn like lye on the tounge, it gets carried over in recrystalizations (using heptane), and has different effects from spice. Again, I have NO idea what this is.
