Salty Nomans Tek? Questions on salting STB methods.

Ive tried nomans tek, based on revisions in notes. However I borrowed from Cyb's Max Ion, and salted the aqueous mix (MHRB and Lye), i used 10% NaCl, my formula was 50g MHRB to 750mL H20 and 75g NaOH. Added lye to water, then added MHRB after lye dissolves. Then added the NaCl (75g). Dissolved all this and after about 15m started pulling with Naptha. The MHRB was finely powdered prior to adding to the water.

So far the naptha pulls seem nearly clear. I am wondering if the salt is too much, or going to create interference? I have several solutions in freezer to see what comes. Pulls are first 100ml, followed by two at 40mL.

Your ratios look fine. You wouldn't need more more than 50g of lye for that volume but the extra doesn't hurt. Clear pulls isn't necessarily a bad thing. Pulling at room temp often gives a couple of clear pulls. You might want to evaporate a small amount before freezing. If the solvent clouds when you blow on it then it's ready. Salt just helps push the water and solvent apart, as does excess lye. You should be good

The extraction went beautifully, I post pics. Got nearly 2.7% out of the initial mass of MHRB. Crystal clear. All under an hour to perform, plus freeze time to precip and evap later. I found the salt pushed the solvent out quickly, and allowed me to shake vigorously without waiting forever for emulsion.

I'll dial back the lye to conserve and see if I get a similar result.

Really excited about this tek, I've done several others, but never gotten such efficiency and speed and purity before.

That's one seriously good yield for crystal clear spice. Some fine quality bark

Room temp clouding is what you're after. When I say room temp I mean about 22c. If you get clouding with a gentle breath across the top of the naphtha, it's ready to precip.

There are two different types of clouding I've noticed. The first is the fluffy clouding you probably saw, the other is stringy and tends to precip more oils (which is still DMT and will eventually crystalize on it's own). I think the second is caused by over-concentration due to a higher room temperature (say 25c) keeping more spice dissolved, so when you blow on it you don't see the clouds and assume it's not concentrated enough. Then you evap some more, blow on it and get web-like formations. You can literally see the spice pulling together in the solvent.

Can you explain your exact setup if possible? I have never extracted and have 50g MHRB arriving today and I am looking for an efficient and easy way that can be done quickly as I don’t live alone.
