Migrated topic.

SWIM has some fresh sass roots
he plans to remove the bark (apparently 10x more goodies here than just root)
devise a cock-a-maney steam distillation with tubing, glass ware, and temperature elements.
once the oil is collected from the distillation what would SWIM do to it to make it usable orally or any other method of ingestion

SWIM dosent care to involve massive chemistry, simplicity is key, as is the food safeness.
thanks for any and all input

The oil will work well orally if mixed in honey.

There are other ways to get the actives out. You can simply do an alcohol extraction. It's not as concentrated but still works very well.

The main active oil present in the essential oil is safrole, which is a sedative with extremely mild MDA-like effects. It’s active orally as is, but will work better if mixed with a carrier like honey or alcohol.

SWIMs gonna try this out when he goes and gets the rest of his sass root.

Any suggestions on what alcohol to use? Is safrole stable in high/low ph?
