Seaking Advice for a Machine Like Bubbler

I have yet to use this but I will update when I do. A Friend was cleaning out his basement and thought of me when he found these two pieces of lab ware. He used to use them as a home made bong to smoke ganj from but no longer smokes and gave them to me to use for spice.

I plan on putting some sort of steel wool in the bowl and using it as a machine type bubbler... any thoughts?

SWIM uses a big bong like vaporizer and a heatgun and it works really well. You get get a lot of vapor or smoke in using something like a bong in one hit easily. It is especially good for newb DMT users who may not be able to get enough in their lungs for a good trip with other methods.

So after foolishly mailing payment to VG and it becomeing last in the mail i decided to dig this one out of the closet.... as i dont have additional funds right now..

As above i plan to turn these two peices of glassware into a bubbler with some copper mesh in the bowl part.. my question is how to do this and how to properly use this.. i have read lots but am still uncertain as to what my best option would be..

the link shows two options, one with mesh then screens on top and one with mesh sticking out the top.

my question for those of you who use this sort of device (or something similar) is what style works best for you?

when you light it do you apply the flame directly or just hover it?

do you let the mesh warm up first? if so for how long before you start inhaling?

ps the bowl is about an inch deep and has a diameter of about a centimeter
