Solvents in Australia

Taking a stroll through a local Bunnings the other day, SWIM could really only find Shellite and Xylene as solvents for extraction.
Shellite leaving an oily residue and Xylene stinking like a major chemical spill, are there any other solvents that could be suggested to SWIM?

Toluene I believe is highly carcinogenic.

D-Limonene sounds ideal for its smell, safety, and pulling ability however I'm pretty sure it's not an available product in Australia.

Are there any other suggestions of what products that can be used for extracting Obtusifolia?

Well I think I've just discovered the perfect solvent

I was left with around 500ml of diggers shellite from last extraction

But I mixed 250ml zippo with the 500ml and just did a Cybs salt TEK with 50g ACRB and

Pulled with the mix of shellite and zippo x 3 pulls and had crystals crashing out as I was

Pulling ! Be interested to see if the next extract of bark does the same ! Keep yas posted !

Nice find man! Could be a low cost option as zippo seems the only real viable option in Aus for a pull then straight to precip all the others either dont hold enough (undu) and expensive (undu) or pull too little like shellite or have toluene in such as sceneys which would possibly keep some dissolved during a freeze precip.
How are the crystals? Greasy or nice and crisp??

No there fine DreaMTripper , nice an fluffy I'll post a pic once it's been scraped up , the only problem was most were floaters but it wasn't a problem !

Yeah it works fine for freeze precip. The sceneys brand seemed to pick up a lot more oils and didn't precip properly.

I just look in the section where they keep the solvents, if you have to ask for it Shellite is used in some older camp stoves.

I know this is a relatively old thread but am soon able to do my first extraction if you lads feel inclined to share I would really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction at the moment I'm not even sure what solvent I should be using nor do I have any idea where to acquire said solvent.

I was planning on doing Cybs salt tek but after hearing how diggers shellite isn't very good I was thinking of picking up some Zippo at the local tobacconist but any and all thoughts would be appreciated.

Oh and I was thinking of doing a 50g run first before doing a 200g of powdered ACRB if that is of any significance, thanks in advance.

Shellite is perfectly fine. If you're still worried about purity, you can always do a mini A/B, with either shellite again or a more selective solvent like heptane.

Shellite is perfectly fine. If you're still worried about purity, you can always do a mini A/B, with either shellite again or a more selective solvent like heptane.

Bun****s brand or Di***rs? I only find the Di***rs online. (it's still our local go to?)

I'm trying to find the right thing in my area... only M***e 10 or Bun*****s to choose from and they are both a long drive. I'd be better off buying everything and trying it than driving back.

They both carry D****rs, the only brand I've seen in Australian hardware stores. it certainly works (though have recently begun questioning its carrying capacity, but this could possibly be a temperature issue too)

If you go to a company that specialises in chemicals, or blackwoods some other sort of industrial/commercial supplier you can get other brands. The last place i worked use to get in metal drums around 20lts and it was not diggers i never took note because i wasn't interested in the hobby then.
