I had Lye / Caustic Soda to hand so mixed up 400ml Deionised water with enough Lye to create a saturated solution, I stop when I see crystals not dissolving, leave this mix a few minutes and it will most likely look clear.

having a saturated lye solution is really unnecessary and only makes it more dangerous. I use 100-200g per liter and it's still strong and dangerous, it only takes 20-30 ml to base a 2L rue solution, that is if no excessive amounts of acid were used.

I tried 20mg in the glass pipe, an interesting taste kinda like dusty baked goods leaves a dusty sensation in the mouth but otherwise very very smooth, I'd say this had a similar effect to making Tea from ground Rue Seeds but much more instant in the way the effects hit in their subtle way, the tea would take 30-60 mins to kick in versus 5-10 minutes for the Freebase.

Sublingual route is similar, 25mg under the tongue works very well.

Here is the last weigh in, and not insignificant @ 0.549g, in total with the 4.75g above a 5.3% Yield from 100g Syrian Rue seeds. Not bad at all.

Harmala Extraction Synopsis - From Speedy No Filter TEK - My tweaked process

1. Mix and soak 100g Syrian Rue seeds, 30ml Vinegar and 500ml Deionised water in a freezer-proof container to soak for 8 hours then put in the freezer. Defrost then Refreeze.
2. Put your Rue ice cube, if still frozen, in a pan and add 500 ml more deionised water to raise volume to 1000 ml simmer for 40 mins.
3. Using a simple strainer / sieve strain off the liquid into a collection container.
4. Put the seeds back in the pan and cover with just enough water 750ml so everything floats, add 15 ml of Vinegar and bring to a simmer for 20 minutes, strain and repeat this one more time collecting the Rue liquid in the same container as before.
5. Allow to cool. I filled 2x 1 Litre Kilner Jars.
6. I had Lye / Caustic Soda to hand so mixed up 400ml Deionised water with enough Lye to create a saturated solution, I stop when I see crystals not dissolving, leave this mix a few minutes and it will most likely look clear.
7. Incrementally add the Caustic Soda solution to the Rue liquid, keep adding until you see no more changes. You are looking for big grainy clouds of harmalas precipitating out like a clumpy sandstorm!
8. Allow this to settle for 1 hour before giving your jar/s a little jiggle so any floaters start to sink, settle for a further 2 hours in the fridge.
9. After sufficient settling time Decant the clear liquid off into a bucket and retain the sludge in the jar/s. Fill jars with tap water and give a shake.
10. Repeat step 8-9 for between 4-7 times to ensure all caustic solution is washed away. It's like having 1 litre and pouring off 90% of it, refilling with 1 Litre and that dilutes the 10% remaining, this is repeated and is a process of diminishing returns with each rinse further diluting the remaining 10% to the point where caustic is no longer detectable.
11. After your final rinse having very carefully poured off the clear liquid pour the sludge into a heatproof dish to evaporate. I sat mine on the wood burning stove but you could also use an oven set to a low temp with the door open.
12. Once fully dry, carefully scrape up the dry powder, weigh to see what you got (If you care about such things). Bag it up and store in a cool, dark dry place.
13. Allow your retained bucket of Rinse waters to settle, processing the sediment in the same way as steps 8-9 above, and dry as per step 11.

Hows this? I too found it hard not to go a bit wordy on the rinses!

Thanks so much for this. I did edit it quite a bit in the resources to keep the voice 3rd person as well as keeping it generalized, but I kept all your tips and added it to the end of the tek in the resources version, crediting you after the intro.

If you are tweaking it may be good to add a safer 'alternative' Caustic step to the way I mixed up my Caustic Soda, but yeah if its been any help I'm gladd and do whatever you want with it.
