Does anyone know what the optimal temperature of letting spice bleed into naphtha with as little as possible other fats?
1st image is naptha pulled from MHRB that had a few subtle heat baths at about 120f.
Swim started from Powdered root bark so he let this sit for 48 hours after gentle mixing and heat bath. Also gravity filtered again so no basified junk made it in.
Regardless the spice ends up looking like the 2nd picture and needs another cleaning.
I’m thinking temperature has a major effect on what spices / stuff transfers into the naphtha – there must be an optimal temp that spice goes but other stuff doesn’t so much. I mean, even after getting the spice out the naphtha remains very bright yellow. So there is something else the naphtha is grabbing.
Swim has tried a lower temperature, 86f constant for a number of days and this did pull purer spice, but not nearly enough of it. So- higher then 86 but less than 130f…. any opinions?
