Strange DXM Thing

Migrated topic.

5 Dimensional Nick

"Full of multiversal flow!"
Years and years ago I tried DXM by downing multiple bottles of cough syrup. I had read about it before hand and heard there were many different levels you can get to, one of which was when your life flashed before you eyes. I had always assumed this would be like a film montage where you brief saw your life literally "flashing" before your eyes.

However, what happened was quite different. I hallucinated reading a newspaper which had the whole story of my life starting with me being born on the front page! I remember reading lots of stories about things that had happened to me when i was young that I forgot.

It was just such a surprise to see my life "flashing" like this, rather than how i'd always imagined it. Anyone else had bizarre ways of seeing their life story?

I belief what you're referring to is called your akashic record, or a life review, some see it as a movie, some see it as a book you saw it as a newspaper, I've seen it as every moment and emotion of my life paused so I could see and feel it all at once. Imagine a train and every section of the train was an individual moment in my life, every step I took, Its quite an odd occurrence. However very amazing, and spirtual.

Your life does absolutely flash before your eyes.

It's called living.

Full disclosure, I did steal that from a Terry Pratchett novel

On topic: DXM is indeed a strange drug, one I wish I could safely explore. It seems to do things that no other drug does.

The last time I drank a bottle of cough syrup (which shouldn't have been more then a 2nd Plateau experience), I ended up lying in my bead, completely disconnected from my body, aware of nothing in the universe but the most tortured screaming imaginable coming from...somewhere. No idea where.

I also broke out in really bad hives. I may be allergic.

All in all, it's not an experience that I'm likely to risk repeating, but I find listening to other people's experiences fascinating. Kind of like Salvia.

With DXM being an opioid analogue, it engenders some of the same histaminergic effects like itchiness and hives. It's not uncommon at all. The most effective remedy I have found has been a small dose of antihistamine, like 12.5 mg diphenhydramine. I dunno about the, uh, screaming... that is likely idiosyncratic!

Well, even if I can avoid the hives, I'd really rather not risk venturing back into the world of infinitely pained screaming.

Hell is not the kind of place most people like to vacation.

It is said that there are quite a few people without enough of the key liver enzyme to process DXM. I have known a couple. These people tend to go into 4th plateau from a 2nd plateau dose. Usually, though they vomit like mad as well.

This is one reason you should never jump into a new drug with a heroic dose.

Also... never slog syrup!!!

Extract it if you must, but as a drug that is legal in every nation that I am aware of... many of which still sell pure tablets OTC. It is easy enough to get the real deal. Find pure DXM in Hbr or FB form. It is a LOT better.

That said, I have slogged some syrup in my younger days. Robo was kind of the punk drug to do back in the day. Sadly, punks thought they were too cool to research things and often just grabbed (literally stole) cases of the wrong stuff from supermarkets. This can be a life threatening mistake.

As for itchiness or hives... the histaminic response can be entirely mitigated simply by warm water. Taking a bath in the dark is the key to unlocking DXM. Just be CAREFUL. It is no joke.

Here is my old thread on Dexter if you are interested: Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide (DXM Redux) - Other Psychoactives - Welcome to the DMT-Nexus

I have noticed DXM to hold some VERY unique effects.
for example: at high 2nd plateau while watching a movie....
well.
what movie?
is this not life???

what I mean is the separation of "sitting on couch WATCHING movie to actually BEING THERE completely dissolves and the "movie" can become experienced as "real"....

at least for me any ways....

anybody share this???

Hmm, I didn't know that about the liver. That is is very interesting, I wonder how you'd test for that (apart from that heroic dose).

Extraction seems like the way to go: slogging all that syrup is miserable.

Why does every fun psychoactive taste so miserable?

Heheheh... They aren't ALL miserable tasting, but I know what you mean.

Usually a little thought to preparation or alternate ROA's will solve that problem lickety split though. Pure DXM is painless this way in that you can cap it up and taste nothing.

Oftentimes the rectal ROA is at least as effective as the oral, and has none of the taste related issues. One is also far less likely to vomit. Good idea to clear the bowels before taking anything rectally though. Heheheh.

I take DXM on a near-daily basis to mitigate the tolerance I develop from prescription amphetamines.
It's an NMDA antagonist, so it basically prevents excitotoxicity which can be caused by many drugs. I find that taking a relatively small dose (120 mg - 180 mg) can help to sort of "reboot" my dopaminergic system and keep me from feeling absolutely terrible and sluggish after missing a few days of sleep.
I'd say it's also quite enjoyable as a recreational/spiritual companion.

we used to chug bottles of Romilar when we were kids....all we could get our hands on. Very strange stuff indeed.

Diskworld is sooo freaking cool. For real.
:)

DXM is something I like to read about. Never tried it though. Dunno if I ever will but I like the reports.
