Is it worthwhile going to the ethenogensis lecture thing in Melbourne? I'm from Melbourne anyway but it is expensive. The lecturers sound awesome but I'm worried about how free I should be talking about my interests to the people around me there. Some might just be there for academic interest you know! What's the protocol for what's safe and unsafe behaviour at these kinds of events?

As soon as you set foot in the door, you are basically confessing to an interest in psychedelics. But I really think that the police have better things to do than track every psychedelic user on the planet.

I went to a small psychedelic conference in Chicago once, not knowing what to expect, and met a lot of wonderful people with whom I still interact to this day, 18 years later. I'd say that unless you are clinically paranoid, you have a lot more to potentially gain than lose by attending. Dedicated psychonauts are thin on the ground, so when a group of us are concentrated in a single building it's sort of a big deal.
