SWIM used admittedly excessive amounts of sodium carbonate water with a wash inside of a separatory funnel. The naptha that was evaporated from that wash yielded .4 gram product (from
a 6 lb. mimosa extraction, first pull. The sodium carbonate wash (400 ml, sorry put way too much) is now golden colored?? SWIM remarked that the DMT may have moved to the wash? Has anyone heard of this before? Any replies are greatly appreciated.
what might be happening in SWIM's case is that his carbonate wash PH is not high enough, and the DMT is migrating into it. DMT's pka being 8.6, you'll want your wash's ph to be significantly higher, like 10 or 11. Did SWIM check the PH of his wash? how high was it?
Somebody I've heard of adds sodium carbonate to hot water until residue remains in the bottom of the jar and then decants the liquid off for use. Jungle water is somewhat acidic but even with addition of small amounts of sodium carbonate would be at least neautral ph thus incabable of leeching DMT. Assuming your bark is good, I think you may have underbased your mother aqueous solution. Could be wrong though...
Thank you so much. A certain individual decided to basify the aforementioned wash more to a ph of 12.5. It was reported to be a yellow color now (the wash). Following the basification more naptha was introduced. Following mixing there was supposedly suds??? in naptha layer??! My friend will try to pull and evap that naptha and I will relay what happened. Again, thank you all very kindly!
