Tramadol and Lyrica interaction with DMT

Migrated topic.

Hello,

I take 400mg of tramadol (2*200mg ER) and 600mg (2x300mg ER) of lyrica daily for tmjd pains, can these
have any effect on a DMT trip ?

Thanks!

It is possible that the reuptake inhibitor type effects of tramadol may augment the DMT experience. This will depend on the dose and more importantly the duration of use. Acute use of some SSRIs may potentiate the DMT state whereas chronic use has been associated with a slight to strong attenuation of the effects (esp the visuals). However plenty of people take SSRIs and use DMT and other hallucinogens. In addition tramadol is a rather weak reuptake inhibitor. The opioid action will not really alter the experience except add a mild euphoria (SWIM takes opioids everyday medically and has not found that it alters HA experiences, many friends confirm this). Again tramadol is a weak opioid and this is likely to be insignificant. However I am not aware of any specific reports of tramadol and DMT use so one should still proceed with caution (see below)

As for the pregabalin although it is not known SWIM has done an experiment with 10mg baclofen and freebased DMT. It did not alter the experience at all however although pregabalin has some gabaergic activity it also decreases release of glutamate via its inhibitory action on calcium channels and it may attenuate the intoxication as glutamate release in the PFC has been associated with subjective effects of hallucinogens.

SWIM is not encouraging use of illegal substances however if one is going to take a new chemical while already taking others they should start with very low doses of the new chemcial and slowly (over days) work there way up to an active dose. As Shulgin said "drug combinations should be treated as completely novel drugs".

If SWIM does try these combinations please write up a report and post it on this thread. This will help future researchers.

No reason why it would not be safe. Opioids do not augment the effects of DMT in any major way except add some euphoria and a relaxed feel. Depending on the presence of MAOIs in SWIYs changa ... RIMA MAOIs and opioids in SWIMs case have been okay. However there are other alkaloids in kratom so you never know. In conclusion while there is no outright reason why any toxicity should be expected "treating all combinations as new drugs" is a great strategy that does hurt to implement.

Tramadol is fine with DMT-if you have been on it for some time ie you have a tolerance to its opioid effects, you probably wont get much in the way of additional relaxation during the experience.

Pregabalin also has no adverse effects with DMT.

Bufoman-you say youve tried gabapentin with DMT, the former being 10mg; the smallest dose capsule Im aware of is 100mg.How did you measure out 10mg, or did you mean 100mg?

Opiates are excellent with DMT, especially if you are not habituated.Buccal fentanyl goes REALLY well with DMT.....

Was just wondering if it's not bad interaction. Like with alcohol maybe ?

No, Kratom has been known to potentiate DMT. I have used the two many times without any negative interactions...they blend well together.

don't know about tramadol, but Lyrica can really cloud your head in higher doses (but 600mg doesnt soun like it would negatively influence the trip.) i have tried dmt while on lyrica 3 times, all were decent experiences, but would have been better if i was sober. also i was 3 times your dosage so that likely has something to do with it.

I meant 10mg baclofen. I am not sure why I said gabapentin. I changed it in my original post. Thank you very much for pointing that out.

I'm not sure tramadol is a very safe drug as it has been shown to cause seizures in high doses. Since we do not know exactly what is going on in our body when we use DMT, besides raised blood pressure, pulse, etc., it is actually a good thing. I believe most drugs can be taken with DMT safely, but can affect the outcome.

SWIM used kratom and kava kava once with enhanced leaf and has been amazed.
Actually he thought first that the Kava was a good candidate for potentiation as it may contain MAO B.
He will do it again in the future if you mean as well harmalas and kratom and kava kava (he likes the synergy between the two).
