Trying to improve Acacia information

..there's a few more South American acacias i want to look at,
but here is Acacia aroma, native to Bolivia, Peru, Argentina and Paraguay.
It has been found to contain tryptamines (see wiki)...

..there are 2 varieties (var. aroma and var. huarango), and it is very closely related to Acacia macracantha...

So I vaped the 30mgs of what I thought was DMT that I got from Acacia Cyclops on Saturday, very weird trip, slow come-on (2 minutes after last drag) it lasted for around 20 minutes, no hyperspace, but everything was everything, flowing visions of silky spiderwebs covering everything, a sense of God/Deity watching me. Voices coming out of my hi-fi (I had music playing, but my audio was insanely messed up) Lots of sparkly tinsel floating around.

All in all was quite pleasant, but different.

I'll def be doing some more work with A. Cyclops.

Nothing else to report. (I had a very lazy weekend)

Yeah it was from combined pulls, but I did wash it 3 times so I reckon I cleaned off all the oils etc that Xylene and toluene can pull.

..fantastic work PrimalWisdom, you are the A. cyclops pioneer! (1st bio-assay i know of)..
the experience sounds like it could have some nmt going on, but also 30mg vaped of dmt (depending on efficiency of absorbtion) can still result
in a pleasant but subthreshold trip..

Acacia heterophylla is actually from Reunion and the Indian Ocean, but according to above source is also very closely related to A. confusa, hence is likely to contain tryptamines.

Acacia koaia is endemic to Hawaii, where it has traditional medicinal uses (skin diseases)..is becoming endangered, needs cultivation. (It is not to be confused with A. koa, used to build canoes & original indigenous surfboards). There have been strong rumours for years that A. koaia contains tryptamines, but if it does
no one is saying publically yet..

Why the interest in tryptamines over DMT etc?

Hi, I have recently been looking for plants around my area(Auckland, New Zealand) that contain DMT and have found what I believe to be an "acacia catechu" Senegalia catechu - Wikipedia , Which according to some sources Acacia catechu - DMT-Nexus Wiki , contain dmt "DMT and other tryptamines in leaf, bark (Trout's Notes)".
Can any of you experts tell me whether this is a worth while tree to use, or if anyone happens to know other DMT containing plants around Auckland. Also if I post some pictures of the plant would someone be able to confirm whether it is or isn't an acacia catechu?
Any help is much appreciated.8)

Hey fellow researchers of the light!

So I'm a little bummed
I got hold of 1kg of bark from A.Cyclops, did an STB used naptha, Xylene, and Toluene again, and got absolutely nothing apart from the weird smelling oils. I think this might be due to very heavy rains recently. But I am also thinking A. Cyclops may be as variable as A. Maidenii. This bark came from an area around 3 km's from the original crystal producing plant.

I have the oil drying on a windowsill - hopefully I get some waxy crystals forming?

So my next plan is to get some more bark nearer to / from the same plant (they are quite large) and see what I get.
Other than that I'll just keep at it with some other Acacia/Mimosa species near me. I am spotting more and more likely candidates daily.

..hey PrimalWisdom, heavy rain usually results in low (or apparently nil) alkaloid results for acacias, also flowering can produce reduced or changed content..you could try acidifying (eg acetic/white vinegar) during extraction and applying heat, to be sure there isn't something in there..
..A.maidenii seems to be split along genetic lines (narrower/thicker phyllode is active, wider thinner phyllode almost devoid of alkaloid)..
..keep up the good work (& you've got those 14 african species to bump into as well)!..

i have always found New Zealand to be strangely absent of reported psychoactive plants (perhaps due to the late arrival of the maoris and no maoriori left to ask), but i'm sure nature produces light there somewhere..
..all acacias (as far as i know) in NZ would be introduced (there should be some aussies there)..
..as for Acacia catechu, i was going to look at this one after my break (ha,ha!) with other asian spp..
i don't know of any first-hand bio-assay reports, so i can only recommend probably stem bark & proceed with caution (stick to 20mg for any first bio-assay)..
..by all means send some photos & the crew here can try to help you out with ID...

Acacia farnesiana
(synon. Vachellia farnesiana)
Believed to have been introduced to Australia before European settlement, from Central America (where it is native) via the Philippines. Also found in subtropical and tropical America, Africa and Asia, often being naturalised. Roasted pods of A. farnesiana are eaten by indigenous australians. The foliage and young, green pods are palatable to cattle and sheep.
It is cultivated in the Mediterranean for it's flowers in the perfumery industry.

The following compounds are said to be in A. farnesiana:
5-MeO-DMT,Tryptamine,β-methyl-phenethylamine
Ether extracts about 2-6% of the dried leaf mass. Alkaloids are present in the bark.
