Migrated topic.

Hey guys, using lighter fluid bottles was never a probelm in london when they're a quid or two, but having moved to Bristol iv looked everyware and the only place that sells the stuff is selling it for £4 a can. considering i use q21q21, with atleast 3 pulls and atleast 100g, thats £12 for an average extraction on top of other costs :(

so my question is are there any cheap uk scources for naphta that anyone knows of?

i bought some Barrettine white spirit after checking its pure (99.9%) but in the evap test i found it took about ten minuts for a few drops to evaporate! and i heard it doesnt freeze precip too well eithor.

so i looked online for lighter fluid, but P&P is obviously alot on liquids

i know people will say to use d-limonine, xylene ect but id prefer to pull white

any solutions people?

many thanks for answering a dull question

ah that's a bit annoying. it's barrettine white spirit that i bought. i did an evap test out of curiosity and noticed that it took a long time but wasn't too concerned since i am doing freeze precipitation. i guess i'll buy some ronsonol.

its heavy naphtha that's why it took long time to evaporate. I did evap tests on ronsonol, zippo and coleman and the best out of them was coleman , than ronsonol and zippo was quite bad actually. I would not use zippo ever again. next time I am gonna try coleman the one I provided link to. Ronsonol should be ok but did leave some residue in my test. The coleman naphtha did not leave residue.

UPDATE

I just read the Coleman naphtha specs and it says it has got a bit of RUST INHIBITORS in it - this is not good news I think

This comment was not there before or I have not noticed it

IS IT SAFE TO DO EXTRACTION WITH THIS NAPHTHA ? CAN ANYONE COMMENT ON THIS ?

Most likely not.

This is the problem with alot of the coleman these days, the rust inhibitors they put in it. This rust inhibitor is due to pass over into the final product.

Id steer well clear of anything that has rust inhibitors in it.

ahh thats really too bad man, got any suggestions for alternatives to expensive small bottles of lighter fluid brands?

I would steer clear of rust inhibitors. I remember your thread and ended up going for Ronsonol because there was a bit of uncertainty surrounding the camp fuel stuff. I wish you could just buy large liter jugs of Naptha, that would make life much easier... Although I'm going to look into D-Limonene in future as that seems to pull more goodies...

EDIT - also no residue with this Ronsonol for me.
