...but i want to make sure i'm on the rght path towards a successful extraction. i plan on using Q21Q21's #2 TEK with naptha as the non-polar solvent, bu have a few questions first. when he speaks of putting the vinegar/lime/water/MHRB mix into a bowl that is small enough to fit inside of another bowl that is filled with near-bioling water, what material should this be? is this the step in which one should either use HDPE plastic, metal, or glass? i have some red plastic bowls i got from walmart that would be perfect for this, but i'm not sure it's HDPE plastic... what would you guys recommend using in this step?

in addition, i was wondering if using heptane instead of naptha would be okay and how much of it i should use for 100g of MHRB? and i would like to know if i need to follow an additional TEK if i want to wash the final product for the cleanest results possible...? will i only need acetone and sodium carbonate for the wash? also, i was wondering if Heinz vinegar has been used successfully for this tek?

you want to use an hdpe or glass bowl. you can use heptane instead of naphtha, I do ~40ml pulls personally. if you want to "wash" the final product you can recrystallize it in some clean heptane, search for "dmt recrystallization". heinz vinegar has been used successfully.

I wasn't sure where to get HDPE bowls either. When I went to Wal-Mart I could only find pp plastic bowls. So I just bought some glass bolws in the cooking section. Maybe they sell HDPE and I just didn't look hard enough? Well actually I just have a glass bowl that I use for the mix and the larger bowl that I pour the water into is pp plastic because that doesn't matter. I also bought a small glass pan set that had two size freezer safe pans with plastic lids that I use for the pulls and they work great. They even have small grip handles on the ends that makes them easy to carry too. They were kinda expensive though.
 
Also the Q21 tek is very simple and very fast. If you follow the guide you should have a successful extraction. If you use two pans as soon as one pan is done crystalizing you can pour the naptha back into the bowl of mush and pour more boiling water in to start the next pull while the first pan begins drying. Then you can scrape that pan before the next one is done freezing and have it ready when it's finished to do the same. Very efficient and quick :d

Also I'm not sure about the heptane but if you need to get naptha I found mine at my local Lowe's hardware store. It was in the section with paint thinners. I'm sure they'd probably carry it at any hardware store such as Home Depot as well. It was only about 8 dollars.

I'll probably get criticism for this, but I honestly just used fairly thin gladware type containers. Naptha didn't even touch that plastic -- the only thing that affected the plastic was the heat baths.

You'll be fine, though. Q21's tek is the shit.
 
thanks guys. so when i put the MHRB in a bowl, followed by vinegar and water and lime, i should make sure this is all done in a glass bowl as i will be adding the naptha into this same bowl later on? and the other glass bowl that it's placed in should be filled with boiling water, correct? and then i can just pour the naptha off into some mason jars to freeze?
 
Basically, yeah. You just want to make sure that the MHRB and naptha get a nice, uniform heat throughout. The naptha doesn't need to be HOT, but I get it rather warm. I usually stir it every 3-5 minutes for 15-20 minutes then decant it into a glass dish for freeze precipitation.

When I warm, I place the MHRB container into a rice cooker with hot water on it and alternate between the cook and warm settings, this usually gets my naptha ready to pull in 10-15 minutes.

But if you do go the route of placing it in a dish with really hot water, make sure it is a sufficient amount of hot water, and change out the hot water if it doesn't stay hot long enough.
 
awesome! thanks for the quick replies! i actually have a rice cooker, so i can just fill that up with boiling water and place the glass bowl in it with the rice cooker on warm...? does the glass bowl float nicely upright on the water during this step, or am i going to have to be holding onto the bowl so it doesn't tip over? looks like i'll pour the naptha off into a pyrex dish to let freeze and avaporate as that seems easier to scrape up the goodies afterwards. should i buy a brand new clean pyrex dish or would it be okay to just use one i already have that i've previously used for cooking? i just want to make sure i have all the right materials as i'm pretty sure i won't have a hard time following the steps of the TEK. thanks in advance!
 
Honestly you could put the rice cooker on the "warm" setting and that should be enough. Starting with boiling water assumes it will cool as it slowly works it's way through the mush but as the tek says: The naptha just needs to be warm, not HOT

as for the pyrex: If you run a razor blade across it and it picks up gunk then that means gunk will be in your scraped up DMT, so just get it clean enough for gunklessness
