very thick aqueous solution

hi all.
new to this.
i followed the chris cantaleno video on youtube.
i used 50g powdered bark and half of all his ingredients , as he used 100g bark powder.
all went well until i put the naptha onto the "aqueous solution"
i swirled the container the same way he did but the product and the naptha did not mix at all, is this likely to affect the end result and if so what could i do differently?

i would imagine the longer its left, the more dmt would transfer, so your saying it happens rather quickly

Transfer is relatively quick when the phase contact surfaces get maximised, plus naphtha gets saturated with a fairly small amount of DMT compared to some solvents. Relying on diffusion alone (as in, letting it stand for 3 hours or a month or whatever) just seems like a waste of time to me, unless I've overdone the mixing and caused an emulsion.

Some of the old extraction teks (before people were even using the term 'tek') really did suggest leaving things for a month, albeit not for STB/MHRB. I think they were just trying to put people off to help keep things underground, tbh

i do like to know how things work. he did not expand on the "swirling" part too much, as mine refuses to swirl this may well be part of the problem as i now see other possibilities from your text.

im about to do another pull with all todays information incorporated.

i just did the first pull after adding water to the bark soup. the naptha had a slight yellow tint which the other 2 pulls didn't have.
i rechecked the original batch in the freezer nothing new and the possible crystals either disintegrated or were ice

Not really, unless you go all "internet pedant" on the answer and say " at least one drop is needed" ... or in real person speak: there are practical limits on handling really small amounts, but that's the only real concern, apart from needing more pulls to finish the job.

You'll tend to do one more pull than is strictly necessary, as the amounts retrieved will diminish until you decide that the last pull was a waste of time and you might as well stop. Reducing the amount of solvent used can help with the final pulls as there's not so much DMT left to make the naphtha properly saturated.

If you have your bark soup in a tapered neck vessel, then adding water to almost fill it is a great way of making the last thin layer of naphtha on the last pull more accessible.

Re-use your solvent for later pulls so that you already have the little bit you can't get out by freezing in there.

i have drained off the naptha and now i have the jar right side up evaporating whats left.

there are probably 100 or more, and they have the appearance of a blood cell under a microscope, somewhat like a flatter ring donut. some are together in clumps and some are separate.

they are quite white, not yellowish, though there is what appears to be a 1" long piece of yellow cotton in the middle.

i did complete the 2nd pull yesterday which only yielded 5 small crystals, i'll do one more just for practice sake and then go order more mhrb

can anyone point me in a direction for harvesting the crystal threads, i mean what search term would give me better results?
im using a glass jar almost 3" wide and 4" tall

DMT comes in several polymorph forms, they have different colours but all work the same, the yellow thread is one form, the white is another.

Yellow tends to be denser than white.

To harvest, wait untill fully dry and scrape out ... that simple The DMT might be in a thin layer of waxy form under the big crystals as well, so look out for that.

When weighing (especially when weighing out your dose), adding some pre load to the scales to take them well into the middle of their range helps accuracy. I tend to pop a coin on, then paper to take the DMT, note down the weight of that, then do the maths after adding crystals.
Cheaper ( affordable! ) milligram scales tend to be a bit inaccurate at the low end of their ranges and I've seen implications that using the tare function to zero out the weight of your pre load isn't the best thing to do ( I must try some experiments to actually verify this one day! ).

i so miss using the "s" at the end of math, but after 25 years of now calling it math it does sound funny to me (left england in'99)
so the yellow string is dmt too? wow i woulda thrown it away.
i can afford good scales so i will shop for one today.
is talk of dosage allowed here?.
id be happier taking advice from some folk i have actually chatted with or a forum dedicated to the process than trusting a google search.

i bought 2 sets of scales
1 ugly medical style in the $120 range which is likely accurate
and 1 cheap but small and cool looking scale for $30.
i'll compare weigh them both and look how accurate they are, overnight delivery now its 2025

it looks all yellow in the pic but id say its 30% white in real fake life.
i do have the last pull to add but last time i looked there was a yellow string and the bottom appeared to have a fuzzy covering, i'll take it out of the freezer in the morning

i had the glass upside down overnight with a book under one edge to tip the container slightly

scales arrived, the cheap one although calibratable reads a little different most times so thats kinda junk.
the expensive unit seems more reliable, if i blow on it the weight will change.
i dont know anything about milligrams, even how to read them, can i get a lesson on what im seeing in the display and what numbers should be there for a dose.
the numbers you see on the scale now is the total weight of the extraction.
