VG VaporGenie: How to use, where to get, advantages, etc

Migrated topic.
Gibran,

I just made 3 copper scrubbers of different thickness.

1. Does it really matter how thick/thin/compressed they are?

2. I heated them all up with a torch lighter to do an intial burn off and they all lose that bright copper color. This is normal right????

Thanks.

Here’s my opinion:

You need enough copper ribbon to allow a typical dose of liquid DMT to cling to it, and you need it loose enough to allow hot air to pass through it, rather than forcing the air around it. If you have too much, it will be difficult to get all of the copper hot enough, so the DMT will migrate to the relatively cool center and fail to vaporize.

So not too much, not too little. Keep it loose enough for air to flow through it, but not so loose that powdered DMT falls right through during loading.

As far as torching the copper – it’s unnecessary. Just soak your discs in alcohol for a few minutes, rinse them off in water, and let them dry. Too much heat will cause the copper to oxidize (turn crusty black), and there’s a remote possibility that you might inhale a tiny loose fragment.

Since a couple of days ago, every time I try to post a new post, it does not show up on the forum, but I can still post replies such as here...anybody know what could be happening?
I tried to private message The Traveler with no reply...

Thanks.

Regarding this GVG forum, I just use the 10 screens that came with my GVG all together and it works perfectly fine, no need to make or buy anything else.

I am noticing a lot of talk about using copper mesh. This is the same trick that is used to prepare a stem for smoking crack. Ten years ago I was addicted to crack, and during that time I found stainless steel mesh to work just as well. They are typically sold side by side so if you have the option please go with the stainless steel. No matter what you choose to use(including a bunch of screens), the metals always need to be burned as much as possible before using. This is to make sure that anything that may have gotten on them during manufactue is burned off and not smoked by you. If you fail to preburn the mesh/screens you may end up tasting metal in your spice. Any of these metals screen products will work but please remember to preburn.

Edit: After burning make sure to wash the now burned metal mesh with soap and water to remove the oxidized metal fragments. You will see a lot of smoke come off while burning, this is a good thing, that is smoke you dont end up inhaling. Washing afterwards is also necessary for reasons given by others on this thread.

I recently ordered a GVG and have yet to use it. I'm waiting for my current xtraction to finish so I have something to put into it. I was wondering how big a flame would be too big. I have an 80 dollar torch that is highly reliable and very strong. It can be adjusted but the flame is still pretty big. The blue cone extends about 3/4 of an inch on the lowest setting. Does anyone have experience using a large torch, and did you find it to be usable with the GVG? Any advice would be greatly appreciate it. I may end up buying a smaller one just in case the one I have is too strong.

How large is it? As long as you can wield it with one hand, it goes out when you take your finger off the button, not be broken or break anything else if it's dropped, and it can shoot a flame down the GVG, you're good to go.

Hi, just realized I probably posted my query in the wrong thread...

Regarding GVG and screens... has anyone tried these? Glass Accessories for Bongs and Water Pipes the mesh appears to be a tighter weave and this company says it is for use with "powder resins" -- 5/8" is same size as VG's screens. It would seem to me that this sort of tight weave would negate use of multiple screens or copper scrubbers, etc... unless the screens provided by VG are also a similar super-tight weave.

It seems that the wire is round? With round wire the possibility of dripping is high, I recommend you look for flat wire/ribbon type of screen solution as it doesn't drip. Steel and copper scrubbers have been used with good results

oh hmm, i hadn't considered the actual shape of the wire itself. I ordered two of those screens anyway to test out, but i'll have plenty of the intended screens with the GVG's arrival, and can get scrubbers readily enough. i'll let you know if i have any success with the aqualab ones. thank you for the reply! :)

I was wondering: It would be a real shame if such an expensive pipe were to
become dirty on the inside and then you can't open it to properly clean it.
Can this pipe be opened so that the bowl can be properly cleaned on the inside?

Also, would DMT extracted from MHRB using a STB-tek with Water, Lye & Naphtha be pure
enough to vaporise completely in a VG or GVG wthout leaving hard to remove stains?

All,

Just wondering if one can use a bee-line with the glass VG...seems like a good idea but I would be concerned the flame would not be hot enough for efficient vaporization of material. Anyone have experience with this?

Vaping weed with a bee-line is no problem. Vaping DMT with a bee-line is a Very Bad Idea. You can easily lose motor control and your awareness of this reality too quickly for you to extinguish the flame. I think most people would prefer not to die in a fire while tripping.

My dear Nexians,

I have a question concerning GVG. But first to explain: I got my new GVG a few weeks ago. Since then I tried it only twice (first was just a testing, second try was a breakthrough / cca 35mg in one hit  - could never done that by means of another method, I think)

My question concerns the lighter. I have a torch lighter that failed me on both occasions of using my GVG (= the flame went off very soon after tilted downwards), so both times I finished the procedure using a regular (= normal yellow flame) lighter. And I think it worked quite well...

Could you please explain me, why do you guys suggest to get a good jet-lighter? Is there anyone who actually uses a normal lighter with their GVG?

Maybe these are stupid questions; I am just asking them to figure out why I should invest in a new and relatively expensive lighter, if "normal" lighter seemed to work...

Thanks a lot for your ideas/comments!

Just get a proper torch lighter, such as "the arc" from ebay for example(it enjoys well deserved respect on the nexus).

A torch is used to maintain strict control of the heat source. With a torch you hold the flame a certain distance and it maintains the same level of heat directed to the same position provided you can hold it steady. This allows you to quickly VAP O RIZE all your product without overheating. Accurately. Sheesh.
