Hi!! so I had 30 grams of virola spp bark in there and decided it was time to make an experiment!!! I researched that 5-meo-dmt from virola comes in water soluble salt form

this was my steps done so far!

1.ground the bark with a coffe grinder,
2. virola powder into 1 liter of water(maybe less)
3. boiled in low heat for 1 hour
4. 50 ml sugarcane white vinegar added into boiling brew
5. 1 more hour of low temp boiling to reduce
6. So I have now turned off the heat and plan to let it cool down overnight so (hopefully) it keeps getting goodies.

tomorrow morning one it has already cooled off, Im gonna strain it from the plant material and evaporate using a fan... My aim is that some sort of resin has to collect from this...

Now from this point further I plan on doing the following: but feel free to add something if somebody knows something is wrong or

from the resin/tar I plan to collect I will dry it out real well and mix it with some lime in order to basify it... add a few drops of water, mix this paste real good, an then dry....

supposedly this dry mixture of basified resin is going to have a nice % be freebase 5-MEO so that its active if i smoke it... is this RIGht???

what if i then use acetone to pull goodies of this mixture and evap??? will it mostly be smokable freebase and other plant stuff?? i did understand that freebase is solube in acetone... Im I right??

well thanks im kinda excited as i have never tried 5-meo and i read is rather interesting!!

thanx for all help in advance!!

my prediction is that you will not end up with anything usable based on reports of others who have extracted the commercially available bark. You can still try though, you never know. Not all virolas have 5meoDMT..some are mostly DMT.

i think its virola surinamensis....

So now I have this lightly golden colored water, evaping in the fan....

Just in case...I saved the used bark and the used coffe filter papers as they are coated with black goo,

since reading virola surinamensis is more NN than 5-meo maybe there is something i did wrong with this stuff

input???

Keep going, sounds like a good plan. Not sure what the best solvent be in case 5meo is present, maybe dry iso. There's a chart on the wiki with the alkaloids and what they are soluble in. Give a look and keep on experimenting.

im not saying this is correct by any means, but by what i understand acetone is a polar solvent, witch means it WILL mix with water, but it is an organic solvent so in theory it will take the stuff, but then you have to separate the acetone from the water, witch would make it a solution, where as most teks i read have a mixture (solutions wont separate in time, mixtures will) with this sounds very interesting though, please post results :)

P.S. i dont think that what i saying is right so please dont listen to me, but this is just my thinking. a more experienced member could tell you. there are some great chemist on here from what ive been reading, and that's all this is. chemistry and practice. peace & love

Well.. this is the crude product i got after evaping the gold colored water filtered from the brew...

it is a nice looking resin, im drying it now using some dessicant CaCl so it hardens and i can powder it to mix it with lime.... I hope this works!!! then i will decide wether i extract the freebases with acetone or smoke as it is

i have my fingers crossed

I've tried smoking a resin similar to this prepared from Virola elongata. It didn't burn well at all, and had minimal effects. You probably want to clean it up further for smoking.

was the resin you smoked bone dry??? humid resin is hard to light... some are hard to light even when dry... is this? the case? like it bubbles or something?

Im also curious to know if you used lime or something to basify your resin or only smoked as is??? i have read you need to do this in order to make a smokable extract... and probably it burns better with the added lime,

glad to hear your response...i think im doing a STB extraction then... wich one will be better to use?? naphta or acetone?

I did add lime as a basifying agent, and even when totally dry and powdered the resin did not burn well. I've never tried using acetone to extract, so can't say whether that would be better than naptha.
