Hello all,

I just found some VMP naphta in a local hardware store and did an evap test spilled a little bit on a cd. It evaped overnight and left almost no trace behind, maybe a couple of spots here and there like rainwater on a wind shield or something to that effect.

Should this be ok for pulling?

Also another quick question I've been reading and rereading the teks but I have one step that I dont quite understand:

In the acid baths/washs/cooks

Are you supposed to reduce the water/vinegar and then strain the liquids only into the next reducing pot without the bark? or do the bark a few times as well, then finally getting rid of the bark when putting into mixing vessel??

Thanks

two things.

Don't do evap test on cd's, use a very clean glass bowl.
almost no trace behind
there should be no trace left behind.

and

For the boils don't boil for tree days (its not necessary ManifestTheMind)
Three two hour boils is usually enough just boil the bark, pour of the liquid, save that part, take some fresh water boil the bark and so forth.

good luck

Yeah I ended up doing a test on a mirror too and it evaped clear.

So let's say I do 4 washes, each time saving all the liquid from the bark
so 4x pouring off into mixing vessel correct?

Sorry, this is really the only step I am still confused about.
Rest seems ok, I may have a quirk here or there. I will be doing a 50g ACRB test tek

Yes, you simmer the bark with water/acid in container A, strain the bark out, and put the liquid in another container B. Put bark back in container A with more liquid, simmer, strain, pour liquid in container B, repeat. It helps to reduce all liquid in container B to a smaller volume to make it easier to work with in the end before basifying. Hope this helps. ;)
