Washed the naphtha with some water. What Happened?

Well I don't know why, but it seems like washing my naphtha with DMT in solution with water seemed to basically get rid of any trace of tryptamines in the final dissolution.

Is there a reason this happens? Water is polar, so none of the DMT should have left the naphtha, to my understanding, yet either I didn't wait long enough for the solution to basify (~=1hr), and hence nothing was really pulled, despite the very yellow final naphtha

It was the fact that I used ronsonol in a pinch, just a bit to make a little to smoke that night, leaving probably 90% of the alkaloids in solution still...

This didn't really seem like a good idea from the get-go, but I gave it a shot and when I smoked the gunk, nothing of consequence happened, save for a light headache and a bad body buzz that was really uncomfortable for a little while.

Comments? Corrections? Reasons this went wrong would be much appreciated.

Methods:
-About 20 ounces of PUR-ified tap water in a medium mason jar
-Added about 100 g of fine-shredded ACRB
-Indiscriminant amount of NAOH added (~1/4 cup eyeballed, over time)
-Shaken and agitated to allow the NAOH+H2O to interact with the bark
-Allowed to sit for a small while, then agitated again X2
-Added a small amount (~3oz) of Ronsonol
-Allowed to separate
-Siphoned with a small syringe
-Separated remaining base gunk (<<1oz) from siphon by addding a little more tap water to smooth out the separation and add volume to the contaminants, shaken, settled, separated, removing small amount of emulsion.
-Naphtha again re-washed with small amount of water, which ended off still quite contaminated
-Separated.

As far as I can tell a lot of people had trouble with stb Teks with ACRB. Do some more research on A/B Teks and compare notes on the Teks to see what may have gone wrong.

typically when washes of this nature are done, sodium carbonate is added to the water to ensure all the dmt remains freebase and thus solute in the NPS layer.

Yep, you only need a pinch of sodium carbonate dissolved in only 25ml of distilled water.

Last wash you do with just water to remove the sodium carbonate.

Did you check for Ph, and soak your bark well?

Don't use that lighter fluid, much better alternatives.

I always wash my NPS with room-temp distilled water (10-15 mL water for every 100 mL NPS) after doing a sodium carb. wash (also 10-15 mL for every 100mL NPS), and it has never caused any problems for me. You need to make sure you do the washes quickly. Get the water in, shake, and get it out. If it lingers too long you may lose some yield.

Others seem to have had different results, but I tried STB on ACRB relentlessly and never yielded anything worthwhile. A/B is the way to go, in my opinion/experience.

Put a little bit of your fresh (unused) solvent on a glass dish and evaporate it. If there is any residue left on the dish, throw that junk out and get some VM&P naphtha.

Don't throw the water out that you used for your washes until after you have freeze-precipitated or evaporated.

Well I'm not worrying about anything now I got naphtha and am very pleased with my yield so far.
I also found a way to kind of get rid of the crappy NMT gunk... I don't really like it by itself... Makes me feel yucky and tense for an uncomfortably long time. It feels a lot like eating wood-rose seeds, but without the whole 12 hour dysphoric dark side trip thing. Same basic feels though.
