It's not going to change colors all that much, if at all.
Always use at least slightly basified water. Any DMT that coverts back to an acidic salt (ph of tap water can vary and 6.9 is acidic) will move over to the water...keep it basic.
you only need to shake it for 1-2 minutes. There is really no need to keep them in contact longer than that.

After doing it with the base water the bestine looked about the same but there was a definite oily looking layer sitting on top the water, kind of a white sludge which I discarded. Water also seemed to get a bit cloudier.
Ill recycle the bestine until it starts leaving bad residues behind in (freeze) re-crys and report on its usable lifespan in case anyone else asks.
