I have a perfect little bong that I have had for many years, and I really do love it. I have read in multiple places that the DMT (or trace amounts of it) may dissolve in the water as it passes through the bong. Other sources claim that cold water and/or ice will cause this to happen while room temperature water fixes the problem.

I was wondering if anybody who smoked DMT many times with the same bong has ever tried to evap the water and see if any DMT is stuck in there. Maybe try with a few different temperatures.

I am considering setting up an experiment like this, but figured i would as here first: Has somebody done this before? Would this be worth trying, or does anybody have some information to disprove all that.

DMT is practically insoluble in water. As the temperature of water decreases, the solubility also decreases. But the solubility is so low that it makes little difference.

You’re much more likely to lose some spice due to burning, condensation, and/or spice flowing down the stem.

SWIM says it works and it works so beautifully that many people consider it as the ideal method of smoking.

Do not worry about losses, they are minimal if any.

While in the past SWIM has worried about that. After making his own bubbler with a piece of copper to hold the DMT he ONLY smokes it in that.

It literally makes the smoke so smooth that he's never yet coughed when smoking in probably ~30 session and the taste he described the first time as "air with a DMT taste" instead of the harsh and unpleasant tasting smoke he's gotten from other methods. With positively no discernible difference in potency.

If you look at q21q21's tek there is a section on smoking that shows a picture, provides links with information on "machine bubblers" and shows a material list.

So which is smoother "the machine" or a water bong?
Well, a water bong with copper mesh in the bowl is, more or less, a water-cooled machine, so I guess it would be smoother.

I've never used "the machine", so I don't know how smooth it is, but a water bong with copper mesh is very smooth.

does it have to be copper mesh? how about steel wool?

although it couldn't be melted onto the wool like with the machine, but taken right away

Either will work. I’ve tried coarse steel wool, but it seems to ignite if too much heat is applied. Copper doesn’t do that. (And I don’t want to inhale iron oxide or whatever else is produced when steel wool burns.)

Why can’t you melt the spice onto the steel wool? Just heat the steel wool a bit, sprinkle the spice onto it, and it will melt right in.

i dont think it would even be worth it IMO

unless your smoking a gram of spice a day man, it wouldnt be worth trying.

but hell, maybe im wrong and should try lol

btw, are there bongs that dont use water? water bong sounds redundant. bong= water pipe :D

Q21Q21: So you prefer the copper mesh and bong method over straight changa in the bong? If you do i might just give that a try.

FunkeyMonkey: I just used the word water to differentiate the bong with water as apposed to people who use the bong without water like i have been suggested to to by a few unreliable sources.

Never ever had a problem with water in a bong. The benefits outweight the cons. The smoke is smoother so you can take more in and hold it longer, this is 10000x more crucial than losing 2mg of spice in water or it condensing on the sides.

It's the best way I know how to smoke spice.

I think we're using that term to distinguish between a bong used without water vs. one used with water. (At least that's how I was using the term.)

Swim experimented a lot with the various types of "machines". Invariably all of them produce hot, harsh vapor. Once she's got a severe bronchitis after inhaling ~40 mg of spice from the machine.

Inspired by some ideas of amor_fati swim did some experiments with bongs and ended up with the "little beauty"

This is swim's "little beauty". It is a small water bong. At the beginning she used it with water, but later she noticed that there is not much difference if it is dry. Probably because of sufficiently long way that spice vapor has to travel before reaching her lungs.

It may make some difference for pure spice, but most of the time swim uses CHANGA.

She uses a Dremel Heat Gun to blast off.
