What are the things that you experience in almost every trip, that you rarely see anyone else talk about?

As someone who likes words, one of my favorite part of doing psychedelics is attempting to describe the indescribable. These are effects that play a part in nearly every DMT trip I experience; I'd be super interested if anyone else has experienced them.

  • Toward the beginning of the trip, my face usually feels like its different planes are slowly drifting apart like tectonic plates.
  • At the end of a trip, with eyes open, I always have the sensation of light in my peripheral vision, like someone has opened a door behind me. These are genuine hallucinations, as in, I think they are real when they happen. But of course when I look there's nothing there.
  • At moderate doses, my closed eye visuals almost invariably include being in a small room which is rotating slowly as my point of view slowly descends, never quite reaching the floor. Usually I'm also looking at some kind of sacred-feeling sculpture in the center of the room. I guess this is probably what people call "the waiting room"? I'd never call it that because to me it feels like a destination all its own!!
  • When I'm overwhelmed, I often find myself counting or reciting the alphabet as some kind of defense mechanism, maybe trying to convince myself I'm still in control of my mind.
Finally, what I'm most curious about other peoples' experiences of is this:
  • Most of my experiences on moderate to high doses are extremely disorganized and senseless and therefore impossible to remember. Everything I've listed above is a tiny minority. Most of what occurs from moment to moment is a frantic montage of sights and sounds that do not cohere into anything conceivable, let alone describable. It's like TV static: so random that there's just not really anything to talk about. (But still beautiful and sacred! I treasure these experiences!) I compare this to people's stories of like, elaborate games played with known entities who have concrete lines of dialogue and I wonder if I'm even doing the same drug!!

Yes most of what happens nobody talks about , especially that strange way it makes us feel .!!
I often use the words love , and incredible and just pure amazing to try to sum up Dmt,
and often yes X a million

But another word that describes MY experiences , that probably stands above all other is
absolutely insane ! The most batshit crazy experiences any human can have .
I'm often left thinking WTF was that ! Why !! I can't even explain it to myself

I've noticed how my experience change over years , from vivid meetings with entities and fractal landscapes ,
To Extremely animated underground ? Realms of the mechanical machine beings ??
To experiences that are way behond words .

The strange thing is , it seems ? the more I try to remember and record my experience,
The more it shuts me out from new similar experiences.
But the more carefree , "what happens in the realm stays in the realm" attitude , the more it opens up to me ??

But maybe I'm just tripping 😊

Talking here about NN-DMT, I haven't tried 5 enough times to experience anything consistent. The most common element of my NN trips are geometric mandala like "things" being presented to me or pushed at me in a pulsating fashion at a frequency of once or twice a second. Often these have Christmasy colors (predominantly red and silver). Other times the colours are more mellow, probably based on dose.

Sometimes, the things are simple coured objects, sometimes they are impossible artefacts which morph between shopping trolleys, chairs, shields and other objects. Sometimes ththey are presented by visible people or other beings, sometimes the operators are hidden or not present. But the pulsating presentation is a very common theme at moderate doses.

At breakthrough doses as @brettsta says things just go crazy and for me, there is no consistency. I have certainly never experienced coherent other worlds and conversed with concrete entities.

There is some consistency about the come-down from a high dose, with comforting voices and a caring ambience. Plus a hightened awareness of the energetic field within and around me. Moving my arms around to disturb and gather the enrgy is a particularly enjoyable experience.

The confusing, decoherent whirlwind getting rapidly pulled into ever greater coherence with the addition of sympathetic resonance.

Then repeatable, shared perception of:
Freakishly stable standing waves of glowing/ringing cymatic resonance around my companions, plants, amethyst, quartz-rich megalithic rock, quartz singing bowls etc. Very loud oscillating neural hums different from the normal carrier wave. Intense magnetic connections while eye gazing or crystal gazing, light shooting out of the head, some form of what seems like telepathy becoming far from subtle, toroidal and fibonacci forms, archetypal death/rebirth journey through the proverbial "underworld" into a luminous yet physically functional state beyond words, an intense feeling of being the universe waking up to itself, no more "rooms" or "entities" etc.

The realization that smoking large doses of DMT is a decontextualized approach, it works way better with low doses on top of low dose LSD, that our ancestors always did this stuff in the presence of acoustic and geocrystalline resonators, and that psychedelic states without those are wildly decoherent 😬

People report aspects of all this stuff here and there, but a combined approach that replicates the ancient traditions makes this sort of thing increasingly easy to access.

I’d like to have some “greater coherence” in my journeys, few and far between as they have been in recent years… can you say more about what facilities the “sympathetic resonance” you alluded to?

Uh oh. That's all I'm gonna say 🤣 @universecannon

One love

I think that touches on the main unspoken problem with "modern" psychedelic/DMT use more generally: a lack of coherence and repeatability. We usually get, at most, brief glimpses of deep life changing states if we are lucky (and usually all we can do is lay there in the moment). Reliable access to amplified forms of those states, but in a more stabilized and functional manner, is something our ancestors seem to have written about incessantly and built entire cultures around. Ironically they were also pretty clear about how to do it.

I think it's as simple as repeatedly combining modern versions of ancient techniques related to resonance, so basically a gradual climb up the frequency ladder. Choir music on decent speakers and/or quartz singing bowls work very well, as do many other acoustics. Then on top of that, large quartz resonators such as a decent amethyst geode (which are peizoelectric and vibrate phononically at a similar range to cytoskeletal microtubules, but the jury is still out on the mechanism of interaction), then connecting with another human in a similar state.

Or better yet, visiting an ancient temple or stone circle with large quartz-rich megaliths. There might be a reason they were obsessed with specific locations.

This is admittedly predicated on the assumption that field theories of mind are somewhere near the mark. They have been gaining steam the last decade, as I hinted at in the ephaptic coupling thread.

If our sense of self is somehow tied to the resonance fields the brain emanates, then this could easily explain how sound and similar resonance fields have such a big impact, particularly while in psychedelic states where the brains connectivity is already undergoing more widespread integration (a more unified/connected overall field)

I like this view of things. I have a nice metal singing bowl that I never use and wouldn’t mind getting a large crystal (I have some small ones). I’ve done plenty of psychedelics, but not very much in recent years, so it feels like a fresh start, of sorts, and I’d like to be more intentional in the way I approach them, particularly in light of limited free time and such.

Very well said , I feel you described that I couldn't find the words to !
Over the last year my experiences changed dramatically from the usual fractal landscape , rooms and interactions with entities .
It hasn't locked me out but it's offering me something different?? Your experience sounds very familiar.

Now it feels like the realm itself come to me , in the form of white waves of electrical ? fields of energy, pulsating and vibrating , all feeling , visually and sound , it's extremely powerful and definitely demands my interaction.
It's without doubt a feeling of a higher form of life , even " light itself as consciousness " .

Cheers 👍
