What exactly are DMT vape cartridges?

I've frequently seem DMT vape cartridges with a 510 thread, almost as often as I've come across DMT in "normal" form (i.e. a powder consisting of DMT and maybe some impurities, just the chemical itself). Despite the prevalence of these cartridges, I have seen no mention of them on the Psychonaut wiki, limited mention of them on the Nexus wiki, and most mentions of them on the forum seem to be from about 10 years ago, and focus on actually developing a method of vaping DMT with an e-cigarette.

These posts imply that freebase DMT is mostly insoluble in vape juice (PG/VG), and either dissolve the freebase in alcohol, or use a citrate or fumarate salt instead.

Returning to the present day: DMT cartridges which are apparently freebase and using PG/VG. Even Wikipedia mentions their use in their article on DMT. Yet, the sources I've mentioned (Nexus, PW) seem pretty silent on them.

So what's the deal? Does anyone know what I'm referring to? Are these cartridges real? If so, do they work well? Why is their mention so limited? Has the technique evolved since 2010-2014, or is this all hogwash?

I imagine these questions have simple answers, I just haven't been able to find them in a place I trust, and I have looked pretty hard.

One additional question: Vapes, of course, make aerosol, not true vapor (as in a gas at under critical temperature, since they aren't boiling the solvent). Is the DMT carried by the aerosol particles of the juice below the temperature needed to vaporize DMT in more traditional methods? Is an areosol a suitable method of getting DMT into your lungs or does the DMT actually need to be in the gas phase?

(If so, that poses a the question of possibly using ultrasonic aerosolization instead of heat to consume DMT- someone with more experience than me might have some ideas about that, I haven't seen it mentioned before though)

The dissolved water in the vape juice flash boils and takes a fog of PG/VG with it. The DMT is dissolved in the fog matrix, which cools fairly rapidly owing to the small particle size.
I've encountered such a cart first-hand and IME it was very good. Probably a dissolved salt, but unless you've made it yourself there's an enormous element of trust involved wrt whoever made the stuff.

Edited. I didn't mention a seller or location, so I assumed it was fine, I am new, so I'm not entirely sure where the line is when it came to referencing or mentioning, but not discussing, the obtention of the product itself.

Reading your posts once more, you asked about ultrasonic atomisation. Yes we've looked at that a bit but maybe got a bit bored or something - emesh experimentation stole the limelight I think. The thread title doesn't exactly help anyone to find it but I'll remedy that now come to think of it.

Yes, cartridges are real. This was easier to answer than the "entities are real?" question. :d

DMT freebase is not very soluble in VG, but it is quite soluble in PG. So, yes, it's usually soluble in vape juices, but the solubility point depends on the exact PG/VG mixture and temperature. 1 ml of PG can hold more than 2g of DMT in solution, so you can make a very potent e-juice.

I don't think there have been many recent innovations in this department, except for the one downwardsfromzero mentioned (DMT citrate instead of freebase).

Carts work well, but they have their cons over other methods. You can vape e-juice from a sub-ohm atomizer instead of carts, and these work a bit better (they can atomize a higher amount of liquid at once, and they don't seem to have that many problems with clogged coils).


If you're about to make one yourself, I would suggest trying the famous 1:1 ratio (1g DMT to 1ml PG) if you're gonna use the liquid in a cart. If you're gonna try the liquid in a sub-ohm atomizer, a milder 1:4 ratio would be enough. I haven't tried the DMT citrate thing, but that could be interesting.

Or forget about carts, and take a look into the e-mesh ROA, because it's vastly superior Vapes are cool for a longer session, though, it's nice to have both.
