I have a salvia plant, and I'm trying to sprout a yopo tree from seed.
I think you guys should all plant a yopo tree if you have viable seeds.

I also have some tricho cactus seeds I haven't planted yet, and I'll have wild dagga started as soon as it gets warm enough outside. Ooh, and morning glorys too.

Anyway, what do you guys grow? The nexus doesn't have enough about people growing their own plants.

I have a half dead basil plant. I tried to plant one of those "fresh basil" things at the grocery store. I'm hoping it will recover.
I have a ton of basil seeds though. So I'll plant those when it gets warmer.
We also have a huge broadleaf thyme plant. and some not usefull plants.
Plus I'll be planting some toothache herb, and habeneros soon.

And I have a lot of others. =]

Ive tried a few times to grow vilca from seed..they always germinate, but I cant get them to survive past that stage..and I REALLY REALLY want to.

I grow cacti
salvia
bundleflower
phalaris
morning glories
some sages

Any idea on the problem?
It seems to be like the hardest part would be germinating them.

I started off 8 morning glories from seeds under hps. Moved them outside a couple days ago, it snowed, they died :(
That sucks. Sorry to hear it. =[
Thats why I haven't started mine.
You could always get another packet of seeds and try again. You can find them at almost any store.

Start them inside and wait until mid of may to set them out. That's what I'm doing, works as a charm even in cold Norway! ;)

I had to move them out the growroom because they started to threaten my more valuble plants. They are crazy growers though, quite funny to see the stuff they try to wrap around. We had a few days of sun and I was tricked into thinking summer was just round the corner... Didn't think it would snow though lol.
I have about 100 seeds left from my last lsa feast, so I'll have another bash closer to summer and when I have more space to start them off under the light.

Anyone know roughly how many seeds a single morning glory plant would produce on average?

That depends. You can yield over 1000 seeds, even over 2000, if the plant is big, although a few hundred is more common.

Hey evening glory
Do you get many seeds on your Ipomoeas I had several plants growing south of Oslo, lots of flowers but I think only 5 ripe seed pods. last year I had plants in my green house but they never even prodused flowers.

As for plants I grow mostly culinary, lots of chilis (C.bacatum - anum - chinensis - frutecens - pubecens) they take most of my green house, the spare room is for tomatos and cucumbers. lots of vegetables, herbs and flowers in my garden. I also have some large San pedro and tiny peote, never tryed them, I just like to se them grow. and one smal bundleflower, hope it survives, last time I tryed to grow it, it died when transplanted out.

Have grown many other plants in the past ewen some datura plants. I tryed to grow peganum harmalla without luck and a kat plant, that vas a smal beautyfull plant but sadly it died young.

Growing plants is a rewarding hobby with lots of chalenges and rewards:wink:

What size pots are you using? I have some large pots, but ive ran out of potting soil, so they will have to wait at least a week or two before i can re-pot them.

They are getting big now, Eeek!

I've got two salvia plants, a handful of san pedros, some delospermae, and a psychotria nervosa. I've got a lot of healthy, maturing sprouts of wild dagga, kanna, calea zacatecichi, sinicuichi, and trichocereus bridgesii. Hopefully I'll have some mimosa hostilis and some tea plants growing soon; I've got the seeds, just need the to get them started!

Yeah, I got massive amounts of seeds from all my plants last season. This too was just south of Oslo. I had a total of 9 plants outside, and got over 3000 seeds in total. They all flowered with several flowers each day for a month give or take.

Ipomoeas are not really hard to get in bloom here, you just need to apply massive amounts of water, give them fertilizer often, and let them be in full sun all day long. Start them inside around now, and move them out in BIG pots with a fence, wall or something similar they can climb on while facing south, and I guarantee you success!

When I sow them, I use really tiny plastic pots, maybe 5 cm in diameter. As soon as the third leaf pair comes, I repot them in pots with around 15 cm diameter and 20 cm depth. These are kept by a window facing south, or outside during the day when the weather allows it.

As soon as I see the roots starting to come through the bottom holes, they are ready to go in the soil. I plant them either direct in high-quality soil with LOADS of compost, or in very large pots with the same kind of soil. These are then watered about every day, and given fertilizer every second week when they reach some size.

Good luck, fellow botanists!

I don't think I'd have to wait till may here. Its a bit warmer.
Prolly plant them soon.
As soon as I get cactus soil I'll plant some true blue tricho cacti.

Well that explais a lott, they did only have full sun untill 1400, and it vas a cold summer. now I live in a montain climat so the frost comes earley, I had one in a bigg pot on my porch facing south, with full sun all day last year, and it prodused flower buds but no flowers before the frost came. I must do something wrong so I migth try one more time in a more sheltered and warm space, but I have my doubt that it will produse any seeds.
