It's far from abandoned. @The Traveler has been putting enormous amounts of work and care into maintaining the new forum. To say that the forum is dying because there aren't as many people as before is to plainly disregard all of that and focus solely on the negative.I feel like this website has been kind of abandoned lately. there are not as many people here as before. Overall, this world is becoming more and more boring and wasted. It's hard to live in this world for genuine people. This forum is dying, just like the whole internet and smart educated individuals. The new generation seems completely wasted and idiotic. It's a sad moment of existence...
I don't follow social media, I have enough contact with people in real life to draw the conclusions. There are more smart and educated people nowadays than there has ever been. The new generations contain brilliant young minds that have the capacity to transform the world. It's just that most people choose to focus entirely on the negative energy of the world, which is made infinitely easier by the presence of social media in our lives.
Then maybe you should reconsider your social circle. Though upon considering the energy you bring to the Nexus, I'm not surprised you are surrounded by people of questionable integrity and intellect.I don't follow social media, I have enough contact with people in real life to draw the conclusions.
Dude I work in the university and I see all people, especially youngers. How can I cange the circle of people who come to me at work? Then maybe you should reconsider your social circle. Though upon considering the energy you bring to the Nexus, I'm not surprised you are surrounded by people of questionable integrity and intellect.
Exactly this.My point is that you're choosing to focus on the negative aspects of people while ignoring the positive ones because that feeds your inner bitterness about the world in which you find yourself. I recognize it because I spent years of my life living that way as well, and I know how it feels.
You can still make yourself go through a perspective shift by being more compassionate and understanding.
Anyways, who am I to tell you how to live your life? All I ask is that you not bring your negativity on the forum, that's all.
That's precisely the point I've been trying to take across for many people in my life in recent time, to a very questionable success.Exactly this.
It's easy to get more cynical by age, and things like A.I. showed us, more rapidly than ever, that we have quite a few different types of people due to using those tool (or not).
Its a sped up triage what has always been and what will always be. Just for fun you should look at the many media files from the 80's, the 40's, 20's and the cycles before that. They were all there at all the times as well, nowadays it's just more normalized to express whatever you think (or not) in a way that can quickly be seen by an amplified greater audience.
And it's the quiet group that is usually the more observative intellectual one, and due to them not using the 'roeptoeter' (a nice Dutch word for this phenomenon) you will get a skewed view of reality. It's like you have to work harder to get out of your Dunning-Kruger effect bubble to see the factual world as it is. Especially you, being at a university, should research and find more creative ways to poke through this 'nonformation' bubble.
Life on earth for the average human has never been as rich as before in all of known history, you just have too look harder for the gems through to the expanding fog of the higher visibility of the 'average' apples opinion.
You can even work on ways to use this new tools and phenomenon, to faster reach the goals in life you can set for yourself, and remember: it all starts with you.
Kind regards,
The Traveler
That is why I said a perspective shift towards the positive is possible and a good thing - because then you can achieve a balance between the two, and instead of simmering in negativity, you can understand where people are coming from with their behavior. This achieves a more complete understanding of the world around you and turns you into an emotionally well-rounded individual who, instead of instantly judging others for being on a different level of vibration than oneself, can be compassionate and empathetic towards others, giving them the space and love they deserve.Unless you are willing to accept the situation you are in, without trying to relentlessly focus on the positives, which means denying the truth of some of the negatives, you will never be able to move towards a truly beneficial solution, as your starting point is not based in reality.
To my mind, telling people their negative views are not welcome/valid, is denying the opportunity to improve things. Sure, relentless negativity is not constructive, but criticism cam be, and blanket denial of anything you view as negative precludes advances being made to sort possible issues, simply confining us to the relentlessly positive outlook, which is just as delusional and damaging, in my view.
My experience of the Nexus is that it most definitely has become extremely quiet, and many people have either left or been excluded, making it a less interesting place to be.
Sure, there are still some amazing folk on here, but the feeling of community I used to get here is no longer the same. It feels a bit more like a private club for a few of the mods, who seem to be able to voice their views on topics that would have other's being harangued and pointed to the attitude page.
I have more I would like to say on this subject, but this would slide into the realms of 'politics', and so is banned, meaning a true debate on issues such as these is impossible on here, which, to my mind, is a fundamental part of the problem.
Now, I totally understand why this decision to stop this forum descending into the kind of slanging match that can be found almost everywhere else on the internet has been made, but I do think that even though this solves some problems, it also creates some as well.
This is The Traveller's baby, and if we want to be involved, then we need to respect his wishes, but I think that telling people that their view point is not welcome, simply because you deem it negative, is doing this site and its members a disservice.
I understand where @Nydex is coming from, because I had a very negative attitude for years and still struggle with it. For people like me, staying positive is a struggle and a kind of antidote. Being on the negative side is fine as long as you're aware of it and not spreading it everywhere, trying to brainwash everyone into your worldview.Unless you are willing to accept the situation you are in, without trying to relentlessly focus on the positives, which means denying the truth of some of the negatives, you will never be able to move towards a truly beneficial solution, as your starting point is not based in reality.

It's the nature of our times. Aya-forums is dead, and many sites are in a similar situation to Nexus. Go read Shroomery and see how much quality content is there. My experience of the Nexus is that it most definitely has become extremely quiet, and many people have either left or been excluded, making it a less interesting place to be.

@The Traveler is just one man, like you and me. Go try making something similar to Nexus. It's far from easy.I have more I would like to say on this subject, but this would slide into the realms of 'politics', and so is banned, meaning a true debate on issues such as these is impossible on here, which, to my mind, is a fundamental part of the problem.

The truth is that Google years ago changed their algorithm into a social media bias, effectively 'killing' all unique fora with that change.Unless you are willing to accept the situation you are in, without trying to relentlessly focus on the positives, which means denying the truth of some of the negatives, you will never be able to move towards a truly beneficial solution, as your starting point is not based in reality.
Mwah, do you have a serious solution in mind, or do you just want to complain about it?To my mind, telling people their negative views are not welcome/valid, is denying the opportunity to improve things.
Not sure what you are trying to convey with this. This is The Traveller's baby, and if we want to be involved, then we need to respect his wishes, but I think that telling people that their view point is not welcome, simply because you deem it negative, is doing this site and its members a disservice.
This is equal parts painfully accurate and heartbreaking. Indeed, the world hasn't changed THAT much. The internet, however, has.So thank the shareholders of Alphabet Inc. and their relentless urge for short term wins and quick profits, for turning the uniqueness of the internet into a playground for trolls, propaganda and especially misinformation for political and corporate goals.
08:52:58 ‹Skr9›To be honest, I'm just waiting for my death. I am not enjoying this world of suffering, stupidity, and psychopaths. It's torture to see civilization collapse. It feels like Somalia is everywhere.
08:58:53 ‹Skr9›Nonetheless, i have no depression, i am an optimist and i enjoy my life
It's VERY old software, has serious bugs in it, and generally is a constant security risk.Sorry to be simplistic, and old sounding, . . . .but getting back to the issue of the Wiki itself, if it ain't broke, why fix it?
