Hej SWIM wants to start explore dmt. But has no clue where to start. SWIM doesn't know anything about molecules. And chemical interaction of the brain, plants, materials...
SWIM has had experiences with LSD allot and once with DMT. SWIM wants to make DMT for his own use. But doesn't know shit about terms he reads everywhere like: solvents, unpolar bla bla, n n dmt??? not dmt??? What about other molecules in the plants??? aren't they extracted too? and toxic? SWIM doesn't know if he first should read the basics of chemistry. And like SWIM asked me: Where should I start??? Because it's a big puzzle for SWIM. Any suggestions for SWIM? SWIM is very handy and maybe can follow a good TEK. And be aware of some dangers. But SWIM has no Idea how important it is or not to know all the details :)

tnx

There is really not anything toxic that you can pull from a plant like MHRB, what could be toxic is not evapping your solvent completely, or getting lye in to your solution. And can you please not use SWIM its annoying we all know you are talking about yourself. It sounds like you ahve a lot reading to do before you really are prepared to do something like extract DMT or smoke it... Research can bring you a long way, read the FAQ.

Hi there :)

Sounds like you're really overcomplicating things. When I did my first extraction my only knowledge of what I was actually doing was "put that in there and then do this. Why? Just because!"

The starting material (Mimosa hostilis) isn't very toxic at all. In my terms of toxic I would say that it's a "not to worry about" thing. As a matter of fact people will take up to 5g's and more of that starting material and make a cup of tea out of it, leave it in the fridge over night, filter, then consume. If there ends up being anything toxic in your extraction it's because you put it there and never removed it. If this is a concern to you then here's the tek:

Personally though I'd find that a bit daunting as a first extraction, what with the aparatus and extra steps and what not, but when it comes down to it, it's not that complicated at all. The important thing is to find out what you have to do before you do it, especially if 100% non-toxic guaranteed is what you require to begin your journey with confidence.

If a simple extraction is all you require, then gratefulfloyd's "noman tek" suggestion is right on the money:

Though if you mess this up, which isn't completely unheard of, you will end up with some pretty harsh spice.

My personal recommendation is a hybrid of the two, where you do the intial water extraction noman style to the point where you have your bark, Lye and water all mixed up, then proceed from step 3 of this tek:

The important thing is to have fun with the learning process, rather than trying to know it all far too quickly, because that will never ever happen.

Much respect and admiration to the patient and always remember that the wiki is your best friend for teks, terminology and just all round good reference material :)

Hello and welcome!

Here is a thread of food-grade techniques that I was eventually able to wrap my non-chemistry brain around:

nontoxic Q&A

I believe, though, Amor_Fati may have improved upon these in the Wiki!

Best bet is to spend a few weeks reading around the nexus, read the extraction sub-forum, that will give you a better idea of whats what. Check the WIKI to.

You could also pop into chat and talk to the guys there.

Read read read.
