Hello all! A FoaF recently purchased some Caapi Copy, Harmine and Harmaline freebase and then remembered that MAOI's do not mix well with amphetamines. He is prescribed 100mg of Vyvanse (basically Adderall than cannot be snorted) and takes it daily. How great are the risks of consuming the harmala alkaloids while on this medication? Can they be avoided by neglecting to take his daily dose on the day he plans to take the harmalas, and are the risks decreased by by smoking them instead of ingesting them orally? Thank you for your help.

On the sheet of info that came with your medication, in the contraindication section, it should very specifically tell you how long prior you should cease taking it before taking an MAOI.

BananaForeskin, it says 14 days. I am more interested in tapping the vast amount of real-world knowledge available here than reading a pamphlet written by the pharmaceutical company to cover its ass. Also, poster with no name (?) I am unsure why you included that link? The vendor mentioned in those topics is the one that was used but only out of necessity (i.e. another vendor with comparable products could not be found). A PM that mentions an alternative for future reference would be much appreciated if you know of one.

If you really want to make sure your friend won't die, you should wait fourteen days. However, you could PM elru, who was in the same position and (I think) figured everything out.

The beauty of DMT and harmalas is that you can easily wait 14 days, they will not go bad in that time. In that same time you can learn more about the journey you will get yourself into. Just thinking and talking about it is exiting, join us in the chat if you feel like it.

I understand that you are now trembling to take the deep dive into the unknown but really, 14 days is nothing, some of us had to wait a few decades before we could make our journey and in the end it all worked out. Whats making love without the kissing?

An alternative would be to buy Syrian rue seeds, or caapi vine, which are available on tons of sources, and much much cheaper too. Then you can perform an easy, kitchen safe, extraction to yield harmala alkaloids just as good if not better then the pre-extracted ones you ordered. Also, I would feel much safer knowing I am ACTUALLY getting a mix of alkaloids from either caapi vine or rue. FV is pretty careless and dishonest with their products.

And also, your probably right about 14 days being a bit excessive, but there is no rush, take the 14 days to prepare. Any earlier could be a potentially dangerous risk, especially if you have been taking them daily for a while.

if 14 days can mean the difference between life and death , i would ask you to wait for 14 days , also even if death does not occur , it could possible lead to other complications , braindamage or neurotoxicity is also an issue here so pls pls wait

Thank you all for your replies, I [harmalas are legal haha. I forgot] have heeded your (and elru's) advice and decided to wait until the meds are entirely out of my system. The potential risk is not worth it. I feel as if there should be an MAOI safety sticky somewhere on the site... perhaps there is already?

It's up at the top under "Health & Safety":

DO NOT use MAOIs (so for example an ayahuasca brew) together with stimulants (like mdma/amphetamines) or SSRI medication (like prozac), this can cause serotonin syndrome and lead to convulsions or even death!

Please be careful and don't rush.

Just want to point out to people who aren't familiar with adderall/vyvanse that the withdrawal from it can involve weeks or months of feeling like a ball of pure hate. Going from 100mg/day (which is quite a large dose) to skipping 14 days of pills would be an incredibly cruel thing to do to yourself and I'd imagine that tripping in that condition would be very unpleasant.
