Xylene

Ok so this is kinda a 2 part question

1. Swim is wondering if you can freeze precip with Xylene?

2. If one were using Naptha and then in the middle of the tek decided to use Xylene and mixed the two NP solvents, would this cause any kinda complication with the tek?

Depends how you are getting out your freebase. If you are just evaping it will be fine. But if you want to freeze precip you will have to convert your DMT back to a salt, then basify and extract again with naptha, no xylene.

Ive used xylene and it pulls full range spice..I dont think you can freeze precip that stuff..salt out with vinegar and evap on a double boiler..thats what I did. I wont be doing it again though as xylene is gross to work with, even if I am just salting it. I hate smelling that stuff. If you do use xylene I think salting it though is the most encironmentally conscious way of doing it, since you can just use the same xylene over and over that way.

You kinda lost me there when you said that to freeze precip you will need to convert it to a salt..when you freze precip with a np solvent you precip freebase...you convert it to a salt with FASA or FASI..

Mixing solvents is not a good idea unless you know why you're mixing them.
In your case, I imagine it just means more gunk will be extracted with DMT. Also mixing in the Xylene prevents the ability to freeze precip like mentioned above.
If you want to extract with two solvents, pull with each separately and keep them separate.

No. He has xylene mixed with his naptha, hence he won't be able to freeze precip because the xylene will keep it even at sub-zero temperatures. So, to get the DMT back to pure naptha he will have to salt it (add acid solution). The freebase will bond, seperate, then basify again, and extract with naptha. It's the only way to get rid of the xylene since distillation won't work. Bp xylene 138, Bp naptha 100-140.

No the Naptha and Xylene were not pre mixed or mixed at all , that is the reason for the post. My bad I must not have clearified how swim was proceding as of this point , but no the solvents were not mixed and from the info given they will not be
