A Meditation Thread

Migrated topic.
Hi,
First of all just reading your article brought me into a meditative state (greatly appreciated :) ).
I understand that meditation can be difficult to understand because it takes alot of practice that in turn becomes wisdom.
Throughout my daily life i want to become more relaxed and enjoy life as it is, not too serious but at the same time i always do my best because i want to achieve greatness. This greatness is for me to set goals and achieve them or at least strive to achieve and move the post.

You gave me a reminder to actually practice sitting meditation more often because, i feel like the skill that i learned from meditation always fade if i dont keep practicing. And this is the same with everything else.
We give so much importance to life that we forget how to rest. If we understand that rest is one of our basic needs that also will help you to create a better life for yourself in many ways.

Yes, indeed. In the end, our brains are a lot like muscles - very formable, but also subject to "use it or loose it". If possible, it is best to meditate every day. Much better to do 10 minutes every day than 70 minutes once a week.

I found talks by respected teachers very good for motivation. Shinzen Young has a ton of great material on Youtube. Also, you might like Mingyur's stuff:

A guided meditation
Practice Archives - Tergar Learning Community More guided meditations by Mingyur

Very different style than Shinzen's, but I like them both a lot.

This thread has continued to bring a greater light, collectivelly, within the community here. Much of the aim of any true, heartfelt endeavor is the specificity of sheerest intent and the degree of focused attention towards the artful science of deep meditation. Sweeter than honey, sweeter than wine!

I had forgot all about this thread. Bump.

I fell off my meditation and am currently getting back into it on a regular basis. It makes me feel better to sit quietly and breathe. Many teachers out there and I would like to reference some here and there, I don't want to overload here with info. I would like to share what has helped me with my meditation. I will start with Jiddu Krishnamurti. If you have a teacher or a certain way that you like to approach meditation I would certainly love to hear about it.

Jiddu Krishanmurti has a great way to approach meditation. What is meditation? I do not know what meditation is. Start not knowing.

Below are a few videos on the topic of meditation. He has talked about meditation extensively throughout his career. I highly recommend you give him a listen.

I sit on the ground and observe the ants. I roll around in the grass and cuddle with the cats. I sit at a fire at night, my spiritual being engulfed by flames. I fish in clear water, waiting for the pike to strike, time dissolving into eternity. I observe butterflies chasing each other, shattering perceptions. I had deer approach within a couple of feet, arresting my mind in its tracks.

Meditation, to me, is letting go of time and purpose. To quiet the mind and let your heart absorb the steady beat of reflected reality.

This is beautiful! Masterful articulation on the topic. Thank you for this rkba!

Why is he telling us these things? Just curious…
I think to really understand that you would have to read up a bit on his history. I think he meditated for something like 25 years straight if memory serves me right. He was to be the leader of religious a group, the group adopted him as a child and was raised to be it's leader, kind of like the Dalai lama, when it was time for him to take up as it's leader he instead dismantled the whole group. He is a very interesting dude to me. . I think the why he is telling us these things is because he wanted to reduce suffering in the world. He is a rather vigorous thinker and his wisdom, for me, is often hard to grasp. Anyhow.. I enjoyed his thoughts about meditation the most.

Sometimes when you've seen so much, it can be difficult to contain it all, and words pour out of you like a river 😄 humanity!!! please hear me! pull me back in... do you know what I'm talking about? I'm pretty far out!! anyone?? ...

... anyone?

..

Take some time out today to sit and be still. Sometimes a guided meditation is nice. I find Ram Dass is a good guide.

It's been a stretch since I posted anything in the Nexus. This thread continues to thrive and that's just so wonderful. I've gotten quite involved with the sacrament 5-MeO-DMT in the last 5 or 6 years and my, oh my... the experience has taught me so much about that state of conscious-awareness that meditation is leading to. It redefined my notion of the Clear Light of The Void in ways I cannot feasibly articulate. But suffice it to say, it has broadened the scope of my daily meditation practice immeasurably.

I have abandoned mantra and visualization in favor of a rather self-obliterating emptiness. The blinding emptiness is so powerful it alone fuses my attention upon the limitless Source. I will elaborate a little bit more at another timeless time. Good to be back in the flow of Nexian discussion. Ahi and Nanste everyone. 🙏

Nice to see you back, Rising Spirit. I've followed many of your posts and trip reports about 5-MeO-DMT on the 5 Hive forum.

I'm in absolute agreement as to 5-MeO-DMT's power in clearing the way towards an enhanced meditation practice. In that sense, it has more potential than any other psychedelic I'm aware of, considering its breakthrough appears to be a form of nirvikalpa samadhi itself. And then there's the built-in energetic purification facilitated by a reliable activation of kundalini. As a tool for meditation, it really does seem to strike right at the heart of things.

Great to have you back Rising Spirit! It is always nice to hear insights from a long time meditator and psychonaut.

Namaste!

Thank you so much. I humbly feel rgar meditation is the most valuable tool human beings have to acquaint themselves with consciousness without thought or rational associations. The 5 sacrament effectively strips the traveler of everything we've been conditioned to perceive as existential reality. This demands complete surrender and unequivocally neutralizes the self orientation we've become accustomed to. I've been training in meditation for 51 years now and it is my foundation stone. Awareness does flourish brilliantly without fixed conceptualization or mental stratification. It's been like an ever-opening vacuum in my life and honestly, I am just a beginner still. Aho & Namaste, my friend. 🙏✨✨✨✨✨

I couldn't locate the edit feature anymore... but I'll emphatically add that this phenomenon can be experienced with most of the primary psychedelics, not just 5-MeO-DMT. My journeys with NN-DMT, heavy doses of LSD and psilocybin mushrooms led to this same breakthrough experience. Meditation was key to such profound Samadhi states. Om 🧘‍♂️

Rising Spirit, please do share more insights on your meditation journey.
How did 5-MeO influenced you, and what is your view at the moment?
It's mostly curiosity speaking, but I'm very interested what you end up at after half a century of exploration.

Your reports on the 5 Hive forum are sublime.
I may never try 5 myself, but your words strike a chord in my soul.
Love ❤️

I think you're right that a variety of psychedelics can elevate a person enough to make the nondual state more readily accessible. I've experienced ego death/the void on both mushrooms and DMT, and I've heard many other similar stories. But it seems to me that 5-MeO-DMT, 5-MeO-MALT, and LSD are the most likely to induce the full nondual breakthrough that's often described in the mystical traditions. As a layman, I wonder if it may have something to do with the high 5-HT1A receptor activation those psychedelics are known for, but who knows.
